Question about 2001 Harley Davidson XLH Sportster 883 Hugger
Bought new drag specalty directional ligth.wired in comes on wont flash. put old bulb in new socket workes fine. The bulb I need to use is miniture and cant put the lens on with the old buld.
From your description, it sounds like the new bulbs (that won't flash) are LED bulbs.
When you replace the stock Harley incandescent bulbs with LEDs, you NEED to add a LOAD EQUALIZER to make the bulbs flash:
The amp draw is different with LEDs, and they won't flash without the equalizer.

the post should be the same as an original. The wires should be green and tan. Green wire goes to the post towards the front wheel and the tan to the post nearest the engine. Don't forget to "polarize" the generator before starting. procedure is in the service manual. Momentarily short between the battery positive post and the field terminal.

SOURCE: my running light on rear
Trace the metal line coming from the rear master cylinder going to the rear caliper. You'll come to a Tee fitting with an electrical pressure switch in it. Replace that switch and see if this helps.

The is should be a speed drive unit on the axle that has a tab that sticks into a slot on the wheel. The lower end of the speedo cable screws into this unit.

If your headlamp uses the halogen bulb, the socket should twist and come out the back side. If you have the sealed beam type light, it is held in a piece of rubber. Remove the outer ring and the sealed beam will come out.

IF you have the stock handlebar switch housings, the wiring's probably there, just terminated someplace.
Take the left housing apart and see if you have wires coming from horn switch.
If so, follow wires and see where they end, and run from there.
