My 94 rf 900 sputters at first in all gears then it goes well. On uphills from a standing start it really does not want to go.

Suzuki rf 900

It could be worn emulsion tubes as they can 'oval' after a while (45,000 miles+). If they are ovalled it's a case of carbs off, float bowls off, unscrew the main jet screw, pop the diaphragm lids off, remove the diaphragm and slides and push the emulsion tubes out through the top. Put new ones in, in reverse order

I have a 94 suzuki rf 900 that only fires on two cylinders 1 and 4. im told its a ground problem but i cant find it. Does anyone know where to look or what else it might be.

Follow the coil wires, (the ones attached to the spark plugs), to the coils. One side of each coil should have a wire that goes to ground, possibly right to the bolt holding the coils to the frame. Make sure those wires are hooked up and grounded. There will be other wires going to the coils that are not grounded, do not ground those.

2nd gear slippage

No this is a gearing problem. I have the same problems. On a bike there are gears in the transmission the low parts in a gear are called windows and the high parts are called dogs. When the edges of the dogs get rounded off due to improper shifting it will slip out of gear and or not go into gear at all. You have to have the gears replaced. Its $500 if you know someone $900 if you dont.

You are setting a trouble code on engine problems, have truck scanned to find error. Trans. will go into safe mode in this instance and this is why shifts hard.
