Question about Harley Davidson FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide Motorcycles

Not if you just change the element with a similar one but if you do half of a stage one you should probably go the rest of the way also. If the amount of air ingested into the engine increases VE is increased and the computer will not know this unless it is flashed for a high performance air filter. Some air filter kits come with a warning that you may do engine harm if you do not flash for their filter but it would depend a lot on the filter and its increased efficiency if any, otherwise you may be running leaner than you should be, because flashing the ECM with updated data is the only way the engine knows how much air it is taking in and therefore how much fuel it should be injecting.

How many miles do you have? You probably need to have your oil pump alligned. They get out of wack and cause over oiling. I believe it caused by not being able to return oil efficiently. An evo tappet block alignment tool is now used to align the TC internal oil pump.

The oil pan on the Wide Glide is on the bottom of the transmission. There are two drains of the bottom of the oil pan. The drain in the center is the transmission drain plug. The drain at the left front corner is the engine oil drain. Drain the oil with the bike on the side stand. Refill with the three quarts of oil if you change the filter. Two quarts, 14 ounces if you don't change the filter. Start the engine and allow it to run for about two or three minutes. Check the oil level with the bike on the side stand. The dipstick has two marks one mark is "Full Cold", the other "Full Hot". Top the oil level off to the "Full Cold" mark.
