SOURCE: how to take off a speedo drive from a honda cbx 750

if its similar to my 87cbrf1 my speedo cable routes down to the left fork and you"ll see the cable enter a black plastic piece one end having a screw, the inner cable tangs match the inner axle tangs while locked in place... you can spin the front wheel and watch the speedo react. Now to take it out all's you'll have to do is unscrew the holddown screw and pull the cable assembly back out. very easy. i just hope yours is mounted on the fork and not on the valve cover because im not too familiar with that type.hope this helps you out! can i get somefeedback.. only if it does help...thanks!

Starter wining honda cb650.Replaced with new starter and still doing same thing. If bike is rocked back an forth in gear sometimes it will catch and start.

On the flywheel is a one-way clutch. It matches to a large starter gear that turns the motor over if the smooth surface on the large starter gear has become chattered/no longer smooth the you will need to replace it and the three rollers in the starter clutch to make the starter grab and turn over the motor. On the diagram you are looking at part numbers 28 and 15.

you can try to rebuild it your self there very easy

here are a few thing to try first

Starter Motor Does Not Operate or Does Not Turn Engine Over
1. Engine run switch in OFF position.
2. Ignition switch not in IGNITION position.
3. Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections (solenoid chatters).
4. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
5. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or overrunning clutch slipping.
6. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and ignition switch not cycled OFF then back to IGNITION position.
7. Security system activated.
8. Motorcycle in gear and clutch not pulled in.
9. Main fuse not in place.
10. Jiffy stand down and transmission in gear.

Locked up engine '83 CBX 650PD

Dit you have heard the engine running before? Has it then a 'chain' noise?
I've often had a CBX with an defective camshaft chain spanner system ( worn clickets )
The chain can than climb over the tooth of the pinions and get stuck between the pionion and the engine carter...

Sometimes it came loose with a backward turn of the crankshaft.

Very rarely, I've heard of a defective gearcase. 2 gears at the same time. But then, the crankshaft will turn if you pull the clutch lever...

Cluch adjustment.

generally there is no adjustment on the hydraulic system on your clutch. but some air in the system or a dirty master cylinder can produce these same type of symptoms. i would reccomend trying to bleed the system to see if you can get better results. air in the hydraulic line can be a pretty common problem.

Honda cbx 6 clutch rattle at idle and low rev hirendouse

Glazed alternator clutch plates? Kind of a ratcheting sound? Common when oil wasn't changed or sitting unused too long.
1. Easy fix - drain oil, remove filter. Add diesel fuel to crankcase. Turn engine over. let sit and drain. Refill with new nonsynthetic oil and replace filter. Warm up. Drain, remove filter. Refill with fresh nonsynthetic oil, and install new filter.
2. Harder, but better. Remove plates and clean or replace them.

CBX Restoration

I have 4 CBX's '79-2, '81 Turbo, & '82. If you are using stock forks and not a real agressive rider, the ATF fluid works just fine. If you are using performance forks, have other internal modifications, or prefer the twisties, you can experiment with different weight oils. I believe that ATF is about 10W ...
