Question about 1985 Yamaha XJ 700 S Maxim
I have an 85' Yamaha XJ700NC. It has 17000 miles on it and recently, I have notice some the clutch does not appear to engage fully. I can summarize this as clutch "slippage"? I had adjusted the clutch previously and it appeared to have temporarily fixed the problem, but now it does not. I have seen reviews on changing the clutch plates and steel, but am somewhat apprehensive to do this myself. The shop wants 600 dollars to fix it. What are your recommendations, and how complex is a clutch change? I have done alot of mechanical work in the past, so I am probably capable. Do you have any tips, instruction guide, or ideas? Thanks!
It's not a big deal you remove the cover and the cable for the clutch remove the nut holding the plates on remove the clutch bands and replace then in the same order then tighten them back down, buy a book for more help, and then adjust the clutch and keep it adjusted.
