Get a test light. Hook clip on - side of battery. Turn on turn signals and ck wires. The light will flash, that is the + wire. If turn signal has only 1 wire hook that to the + wire. The - connection will ground through frame and complete the connection.

SOURCE: I have a 1978 Suzuki

Do Not use the diagrams. Your turn signals have certain colored wires that go to them as well as the headlight. Make sure you run a ground wire . If the turn signal uses a separate ground keep it separate. Your Windjammer wiring harness is also color coded . Make sure the colors used for the right signals in the fairing go to the corresponding colors for the right turn signal, then the headlight, then the left turn signal , Extra power wire for a cellphone charger or radio. I have purchased 6 motorcycles with Windjammer fairings on them and had to rewire each one because the installer could not follow the instructions and do it correctly. The only thing that might make your install tricky is if the fairing harness colors do not match from one fairing quick connector to the other. Draw a diagram on a piece of paper to keep your colors straight.

1978 GS1000. Currently has a better - windjammer fairing. I'd like to remove the fairying and put turn signals on. I tried this once before and failed. Could not figure out the wiring. Not sure how to hook...

Pretty straight forward, each indicator on the fairing has two wires going to them, using the same two wires connect to the replacement indicators, ones is an earth wire the other is the power feed, so it's two wires for two wires. Buy bulb type indicators, LED lights have low resistance and don't flash without added resistor in the system.

I need to know how to wire up my signal lights for my 1984 honda shadow vt700c motorcycle

All Honda turn signals wire the same. The wires are color coordinated and the same on all models. Sky blue wires are for the right side and orange wires are for the left side. The running lights the same colors (blue on right and orange on left) they just have a white stripe or a white band on the blue or orange wire. The most important thing to remember is the turn signals have to ground to the green wires in the harness not to the frame. If you do not ground the signals through the wiring harness you may have issues down the road. Every motorcycle I have purchased that had a windjammer fairing on it, had to be rewired. The turn signals had not been wired using the green ground wires and they did not work correctly. The turn signal should be flash brighter than the running light. If the running light is brighter than the turn signal the offending front signal is wired backwards.

I have a Yamaha Fairing (looks close to vetter but different turn signals) with a Genuine Yamaha Parts plate on it with a serial number, but do not know what it goes on, is there a way to find what model...

You may be referring to (if I remember correctly) the Califia fairings that were sold as Yamaha OEM back around 1980. If you need parts now you know where to look. Many times you can make or find adapter plates to mount a Califia fairing on a windjammer mounts , etc. The fairing will fit on any motorcycle you just have to adapt the mounts to fit and wire it to your harness.

1978 Suzuki GS 1000, need manual would like to download it, anyone have anything free

The best I can offer is a 1980 GS1000. Ninety eight percent of the 1980 manual applies to your 1978 bike. The biggest differences are in fenders, gas tank, decals, trim and seat designs. Go to the site below for a free download. www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp

Wiring from "Windjammer Fairing to Bike is troublesome....

Hi and welcome to the site,

To my recollection, wiring of a Windjammer:
  • white - high;
  • yellow - low;
  • black - ground;
  • violet - left;
  • blue - right;
  • green - running light;
  • red - cigarette lighter;
  • brown - accessory;
  • orange - accessory.
While the Suzuki would have:
  • yellow - high;
  • white - low;
  • black/white - ground;
  • black - left;
  • green - right;

Good luck and thank you for asking.
