ENGINE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION
LOSS OF ACCELERATION
It
can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its
clogged filters causing there.
There
are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help
links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault
lies: -------

Sorry! We're poor folks trying to diagnose a problem, when these veh's have "dang" computers in them and soooo many sensors! We suddenly had this problem. Changed plugs and truck ran great for days. Filled up with gas, then a day later, veh started cutting out. Tried fuel stablizer, in case of bad gas, no luck. Trk would crank and run fine.., but not much power on acceleration. Then stop, re-crank, run smooth, idle smooth at lites, stop again, re-crank a couple times, fine.., then re-crank and sounds like running off 2 cyl's...then ease along, just barely putt putting.., a couple mins, then picks up.. run smooth and fine for miles, but still not much power on acelleration. Then crank several more times, some just fine, some not hardly crank at all. Changed 02 sensor when it wouldn't crank at all.. and 2 vacuum lines, and it cranked right up!... but still has same issues! Thought of CatCon, cause symptoms seem to fit, but have truck running at nite, no red color from CatCon! Did try several times to flash codes!!!, but no luck, only get the 5 flashes, pause, and 5 flashes! Tried re-setting pcm..., still no codes, still same problems with truck. ??? Don't know where to go from here! Thank you
Thanks motor1258! ... we were trying to find someone that would test that for us, but of course, no one will, w/o a "fee"! Just don't have the money for paying someone to do it right now! Last summer, our temp sensor went out, and O'Reilly's in Tx, did something wrong on truck, and it wouldn't crank, and they actually tested the fuel pressure for FREE at that time, which it was Okay..., but we ck'd auto parts places here, and they will not do it for free!! Figures.... but great idea, thought of it..., trying to figure out a way to get it tested! Thanks
Actually, thank you..., we do realize that it still could be the CatCon!?, just hate to pay someone to replace it, unless we KNOW it is bad! It's welded, so would have to be done at shop! And... we haven't gotten the fuel pressure ck'd. Can't find anyone to do that, especially on Sunday..and certainly not without "paying"! boohoo... just money we don't have. Already spent $60 to change 02 sensor, and another $15 for new vacuum lines! Thanks for all your advice and help! I'm still wondering about "bad gas"!? .. but we'd filled up, so only down to almost half right now!, and did you the fuel stuff, in case of water, etc.., but no help there either! Again, thanks, Lynn
Just because the converter was not red does not mean that it is not clogged. Also what was your fuel pressure PSI.
have you tested fuel pressure?
Start the engine cold. Feel the tube that runs from the EGR valve to the exhaust while the cold engine is running. If the tube gets hot (too hot to touch) within a minute of startup, the EGR is bad.
Have you tried cycling key method for retrieving trouble codes?
