probably a blown fuse. in trucks with trailer packages the trailer lights usually have their own fuses. either in the under hood fuse block or possibly under the dash. if it's blown replace it, if it blows again check for a short in the trailer wiring.
Replace the bulb,
1. Open the lift gate on the rear of your Blazer or drop it if you have the tail gate that folds down. Locate the screws on the inner edge of the lift gate frame. There are two screws--remove them with a Phillips screwdriver. 2. Slide the taillight assembly out of the rear of the truck, being careful to not break the locating tabs on the rear of the housing. Locate the bulb sockets on the rear of the taillight assembly. 3. Rotate the light bulb socket counterclockwise about a quarter turn to unlock it from the taillight assembly. Pull the socket straight out of the assembly with the bulb attached to it. 4. Remove the bulb from the socket by pulling it straight out of the socket. If you are removing the entire assembly from the truck, remove the remaining sockets from the rear of the taillight assembly, lay them aside and remove the assembly completely. 5. Reinstall everything in revers and don't for get to *** some grease to your socket before you place the new bulb in place and test the operation of the new bulb before you reinstall the tail light. Thank you for using fixya and here is the bulb you need for the trail light. The 1999 Blazer uses a 3057 bulb available at most auto parts stores.
int pak fuse--10 amp, left i/p fuse block. Not only check the fuse, check for voltage on fuse circuit, head lamp switch on. At the clearance lamps, brown wire is voltage, black is ground.
I am having the same problem on an 04 2500hd there isa 15 amp stop light fuse inside the cab on the side of the instrument panel and a 25 amp stop light fuse under hood. you could also have a break switch issue the switch is located up on the break pedal linkage you should have power on the white wire when you push the pedal in (check with a test light) in my case I have a broken wire along the frame rail in the harness it is a light blue wire,
ljones, Did you check the "VEH stop" fuse in the left side instrument panel fuse box. There are 3 stop light fuses, 1 for all the stop lights located in the under hood fuse box. 2 in the left side IP fuse box. 1 for the upper stop light and 1 for the lower stop lights. The fuse box in the IP is where the upper and lower stop lights split. Let me know.
