2000 tdi when cold tick over very lumpy and smokes when warm its ok it starts first time no problem?

Not sure what "tick over" means. Suspect it is hard to start when cold? Could be bad glow plugs. They "warm" the cylinders to get them up to temp before starting. It could also be that you are not waiting for the cylinders to warm up. I have a 2009 tdi. It has a light on the dash that goes on when I put the key in, but I have to wait for it to go out before starting the engine.

My r6 running too fast when started

On cold days, the yamaha fuel injected bikes rev higher to warm up the engine quickly. It is still ok to ride the bike on a cold engine, but it will perform much better when the engine is warmed up.

Bike don't want to start

It sounds to me like your bike has been in the cold and the oil is thick , in which case you should carry out the following.Do not force the kicksatrt, you may damage the kickstart spring or gears etc.
Try and get the bike in the warm (sunshine if you have any).Remove the battery and charge it until the voltage is about 13 volts. When the battery is charged and the bike has warmed up above 0 C, then try starting again. All should be OK. Following this, you should change the oil to a thin multiigrade oil say" 10-40 and preferably a graphited oil. Drain and clean the carbureter and jets. The problem you have is common in winter so next winter try and keep the bike somewhere warm.Hope this solves your problem.

I have a 2008 Sportster XL883 It has a loud tick coming from the front lifter area when it warms up seems to get louder when it warms up. The colder it is outside the longer it takes. Is it a bad li

I have the same problem with mine(2008 XL883L), its at the shop right now. its my first harley so all the noises are new, my gsxr doesn't make a single tick. from what i'm told by alot of others that have the bike is that the engines are noisy, so a lot of first time riders of them think there is a problem. took it to the shop just to be sure, they said it sounds like a tappet, if it is its around $150-200. called them today, they said the synthetic oil has started breaking down where i sit in traffic (nc) but the engine itself is fine. $65 for labor and a oil change to regular oil.

Hi, I bought a brand new Keeway Outlook 125 jusy 5 weeks ago. Since I bought i had problems when starting it so they put in a new carburator that had a new automatic choke on it. I still have problems...

Is it normal that a new bike dies on you as you drive it? No way my friend. The carburetor should have a thermal-choke and it probably needs some adjustment.

Why does my bike take so long to reach a normal operating temperture? It will keep cutting out until at least 4 miles is reached.

only 4 miles????? thats not bad realy,,after all its darn cold air out there!!,you never start it and let it run up for a fuw minuets before you drive away then? a cold engine will have maximum engine were done to it if driven cold! have you checked the thermostat out? if its stuck open the engine will take longer to warm up,,,but 4 miles???? thats nothing my BMW takes forever to warm up,,,the fan has only ever started up once in 3 years of riding it??? i was sat in a jam up for 30 minuets first with the engine ticking over!!! dont worry it will warm up quicker when the wether warms up

Bike starts fine on choke then ticks over when choke off. within 2-3 mins the revs decrease to the point of stalling. have adjusted tick over to around 900 revs but as soon as engine warm the problem re...

If your bike has ever sat for more than a few months at any time, the carburetors could be plugged with gasoline residue. If so, they will need to be disassembled and cleaned.
Otherwise, make sure all of the normal tune up items have been performed; valves adjusted, air filter, spark plugs, etc. And make sure there are no air leaks between the carburetors and the engine.
Finally, if the above things are all good, then I would perform a compression check. With the throttle held wide open, you should see at least 140psi of compression, on every cylinder. Anything lower than that will cause an erratic idle quality and overall poor performance.
