It has been a long time since you changed the oil and oil filter, right? Extremely dirty, gritty oil can cause the clutch to grab as you describe. There is a $25 get-me-by fix and a $50 do-it-right fix. Th $25 get-me-by fix means you drain the old oil and put in new oil and a new oil filter. The $50 do-it-right fix means you do the $25 fix then ride the bike for an hour and do the $25 fix again. The 1st oil change gets rid of 75% of the bad oil and grit. The hour ride and 2nd oil change gets rid of 95% of what was left after the 1st oil change. There is also a $30 fix and that is the $50 fix but without a second oil filter. The drain plug is on the bottom left of the gearbox. The filter should be at the lower back of the gearbox. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. Use Kawasaki brand oil filters. Aftermarket filters often fail.

FIY // Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

Thinking about it, the reverse could be the problem. Did you recently change oil, and if so, EXACTLY what was it you put in the gearbox? Brand, weight, type, additives?

Try adjusting the clutch. With the engine off put it in low, pull the clutch in
and insure it rolls as easily as it does when in neutral. simple test
