Question about 2006 Hero Honda CD Dawn

A suitable women's bike

Hi, i am currently looking at a 2002 aprilia or a honda spada to buy - a woman looking for a bike that is something between a cafe racer and a recent bike that doesnt have the mechanical hassles of an antique bike. Also have a budget around $5000. I want something that allows me to sit reasonably upright, not lying down on the bike or lying back like a cruiser. Any suggestions for good reliable brands/buys that allow a 5ft 4inch woman to have her feet flat ont he ground when she is at the lights? Also something i can pick up if it falls over. Dream bike would be a new Triumph Bonneville but they are too big or should i just get my *** into gear and learn how to ride a big bike! Any suggestions - havent ridden for a while and dont need the big revhead power....

    Hi there,

Thanks very much for this, had no idea about this website, and the number one pick, the Harley sportster is a beautiful bike. Will need more money obviously, so can see what you mean about budget. How do i go from being capable on smaller bikes though to one that is 883 ccs...is there somewhere i can go to learn how to handle a bigger bike confidently?

Thanks again, much appreciated, thanks for taking the time

Hi again, just realised, you might be writing from the US - i am based in Australia - so can do some enquiries locally about lessons. Thanks again -- im going to get 4 women together and we are going to do a women's wild hogs trip.

    Good luck with your riding.

Hello there,

I would like to suggest a link where it ranks the bikes most women ride.

Motorcycle for Women

Being a man, I would look more into the the pricing and the mechanical parts. I would agree on with the list that the Harley Davidson Sportster is a great woman's bike because of the styling and the ride position which makes you sit more upright, but the pricing may be off than your specified budget. You can check out the bikes in the list. Other suggestions I have for you are the following:

  • Suzuki Boulevard C50T
  • Kawazaki Vulcan
I heard they are quite easy to maintain and good MPG. But I would suggest to give them a test drive. Only then will you trylly appreciate the bike.

Cheers!

The Honda Spada is also a good bike to ride as a transition to a much larger one. I don't know but I think its more of getting the feel of the bike when you change to a bigger bike since you will get a change in behavior like on the way it turns and accelerate. The skills to use are the same or maybe its just me.

Thanks for chat. Good luck on your trip!

Hi, i have honda spada 250 vt, and it needs to change the pistons and the pistons rings set, is the honda 250vtr will fit it.

Your question is if the pistons and rings off of a VTR will fit your VT. Chances are they will, but IMO this isn't a good idea. If you blew pistons and rings, you should buy new pistons and rings. In which case why not buy the ones made to fit your bike? They should be equally available.

Hi i am looking at buying a honda nsr 125. There is one that needs a new clutch cable and and throttle cable from brake pipe. could you tell me how much a honda dealer would charge to repair this? thank yo

I would not buy the bike until the current owner fixes it. Then you can test ride the bike before buying it. For all you know, the transmission and clutch are trash. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Hi, Troythickpen never jump start your bike from a car it's amperage is over the top of your bikes delicate electronics and you will inevitably fry something expensive and I am sorry you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Aprilia but despair not for a mere $10 you can download another one. For more information about your issue, please visit the websites below. Good luck and have a nice day.

I'm buying a bike for a woman. Should it be different than a man's bike ?

You don't need the low top tube, since she won't be riding with a skirt (you probably don't want that, since it'd reduce the frame strength). Some bikes are built for women just by having a shorter top tube length.

Just installed the schwinn hitch rack 3 on the hitch of our vehicle. How to we fasten bicycles on rack? men'a AND women's bikes.

For the ladies model you need an adapter bar to make it like a mans model. , mens, you just set arms on the bike's top bar and bungee it or if it has straps use them. Make sure that your pedals do not scratch your trunk by either buying foam pedal blocks or wrap and tape them. Put the womans bike on first.

I have a 2002 aprilia rs 125 gp1 how can i tell

The VIN would tell you this if you know how to read it. If you don't merely call a dealer and give them the number and they will tell you since they would want your parts business. An alternative method would be to merely test the acceleration of your bike. Look online for the times of both models. I haven't heard of a 14bhp aprilia but suppose it's possible. Here are some specs I dug up."RS 125 Standard" Topspeed=170kph/105 mph. Acceleration=0-100kph/0-60mph 6.6 seconds (at sea level). Racing track Aprilia RS 125 topspeed=220kph/140mph Acceleration 0-100kph/0-60mph 5+/-seconds.

Buying parts

I am interested in buying a 6.5. I have seen some already and there is one which in a very condition and almost in the process of getting it but I am still I little bit insecure in relation to the spares parts fact since this bike is not made anymore and I will use it in a regular basis I wonder if is a good decision as such or better to buy another bike like a BMW 650?. Does anyone have any thoughts,It is true that Aprilia have stop making the bike however you can still get parts from Italy and some parts on the bike are the same spec as the Aprilia Pegaso which are easily available. I have had my bike 3yrs now and have only replaced the battery (which most bike shops will stock)the bike is very reliable and looks a lot better than the BMW F650. The bike is a pleasure to ride as i do ride everyday. ,,,
