Adjustment is in rockers, not springs; take it to a qualified tech; its not hard but does take practice and knowledge of what you are doing that is pretty tricky to convey in a chat room; springers are cool but very maintenance intensive; don't slack on it, it can be very dangerous...T

For a rebound adjustment, jack up your bike.
Be sure the front tire is off the ground.
Once this is done let your springer front end fall either to the left or right. Your springer front end should only bounce back about a inch and then stop.

Most people prefer the "Fall-Away" adjustment.
Jack the bike so the front end is off the ground.
Place a piece of tape along the front edge of the front fender.
Find the center balance point of the front end.
Place a pointer of some sort at the center of the fender. Make a mark on the tape for the center balance point. Mark does not have to be in the exact center of the fender.
With the pointer in place, turn front end in each direction and note where the front end just begins to fall away on it's own. Make a mark on the tape at these positions. Marks do not have to be centered and may be unequal distances from the center mark.
Measure the distance between the two outer marks. If the distance is 1-2 inches the fall away is correct. If less than 1", loosen the upper bearing retainer nut. If more than 2", tighten the upper bearing retainer nut.

Hello, I have an 07 Springer Softail. My problem is that the front end is stiff, really stiff...no movement at all. I took the shock off and it seems fine. It's like the front end is a rigid.

If your bike responds normally while riding upon the road and if during front braking the springs directly behind the headlight "extend" and "relax" in a "normal" fashion then you aren't experiencing any difficulties/problems. Springer front ends should only be adjusted or serviced by very qualified personnel as the spring pressures exerted by a springer assembly can seriously injure untrained persons.

I have a 97 Harley Davidson with a springer front forks and I get a lot of vibration when I'm riding

Have the balance checked on the front tire, My heritage springer did the same thing and the front tire had slung the weight off of the front tire causing it to be unbalanced and bounce causing a vibration at speeds of 30mph on up.

Need the torque spec on the acorn nuts that fasten the top of the springer front end. They sit right behind the headlamp assy. The bike is a 2008 Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle Springer.

I have a slightly older springer, but they are probably the same. The shop manual says in reference to the acorn nuts on top of the spring restraints, "Tighten acorn nuts to 30-35 ft-lbs torque."

Looking for details on adjusting a springer front end

I ride the same bike with 17,000 miles on it. I bought it new and it rode like a lumber wagon at first but gradually worn into a smoother ride. I never adjusted the front end but I always keep it greased and check the neck bearing every 10,000 miles with the bike off the ground. I look for any slop or binding when I swing the bars either way. Also grab the front wheel and try to give it a wiggle. Your HD dealer should help with any specific questions it you really feel the need to adjust it. Hope this helps..
