Question about 2002 Harley Davidson FLHT Electra Glide Standard
I have a 2002 FLHT standard with 42k miles on it. Recently the fuel guage started jumping around. Occasionly it will stop moving but as soon as you hit a bump it stars jumping again. I also have a squeak coming from the rear. I had the bearings checked, replaced the exhaust mount bushings, removed the saddle bags, adjusted the belt but I cant seem to find the culprit. It seems to be speed related starting at about 20 mph after I have been riding for a few miles. The rpms or applying the brake dont seem to affect it one way or the other. Any ideas on either issue?
If the squeek is only happening when rolling the throttle then the squeek will be from your drive belt still & you will find that it is still too loose. Try being in a quiet street, do less than 20mph then roll & release throttle a number of times. Make sure Belt is adjusted when the engine is at correct operaing temperatue.
