Maybe. It had nothing to do with the battery The problem just acured at the same time? Try tracing the wires then try replace the gauge then might be the transmission?

I agree it happened at the same time, but I think I did something that blew it out when I replaced the battery. I read up more in battery replacement and found the order of reconnecting is important or it can harm things. I didn't know that and I may have disconnected and reconnected improperly. My confusion is why is the rest of the speedometer working? I can't replace the gauge without an entirely new speedometer? And do you mean the transmission of the "signal" or the actual "transmission?" I know that typically the transmission of a car would have nothing to do with the speedometer but I am new to bikes so pardon my ignorance. Thanks for you help.

2003 road king speedometer stopped working & the mileage isn't changing either

Check to see if there is any back lighting.

Pull the speed sensor from the transmission case and if there are any metal filings on it clean them off and replace it. If there are not filings you may need to replace the sensor. The speedometer head itself or wiring conneftors could be the porblem as well.

My 2000 road king speedometer and odmeter have both stopped working??well they work every now and then???? whats up???

My 2001 road king just did the same thing. The speedo would bounce up and down then quit altogether. Turns out the battery cables were loose. This caused the voltage to the speedo to be hit and miss. I tightened mine and it works great. The odometer had power but registered no miles. Pull the seat and check the cables. Got this fix from a local friend who owns a bike repair shop.

Speedometer quit working i checked the sensor and it came out clean

My speedo went out while riding. It would bounce up and down then stopped completely. The odometer still had power but would register no miles. A local mechanic suggested to check the battery cables. While this seemed odd to me, I checked and found them loose. After tightening them up the speedo and odometer worked fine. Apparently the voltage connection to the speedo was hit and miss. So far everything is working great.
