SOURCE: I would like to know how to rebuild a gas / oil

Try Dirt Bike service manual is great. It will explain all that you will need to know about dirt bikes servicing your suspension and the complete bike tear downs. It cost about 20.00 has all of the tools you will need. Get ready to spend some money though these are specialized tools so they are expensive but they will save you money in the long run.

SOURCE: what oil weight is best for a 1996 yz 250?

Calls for 10w30. Any brand mc specific oil will do, along with any of the more expensive brands. If you need to go cheap, buy Type F (only)automatic transmission fluid. Change as soon as oil looks dark.

SOURCE: engine oil in yz 250

all the yz250 needs is the pre-mix two stroke oil that you mix in with the fuel and also the transmission oil. the transmission oil goes in the filler cap which is located on the engine next to the kickstart on my 2002 yz250. this is for two strokes only. hope this helps

Do i mix the gas or use straight gas

The answer is that ALL 2-stroke engines requires that you mix oil with the gas. ALL 4-stroke engines do not take oil in the gas. So the simple answer is if there is no place to add oil, then you have to mix oil in the gas - not the same kind of oil though! I don't know this particular model, but I have never seen a 4-stroke wearable leaf-blower. The kind on wheels could be either, but most (maybe all) are 4-stroke.

Starts hard and wont idle, no low end power, has been sitting i'm told, cleaned carb, fresh gas and new plug.

The starting hard and Idling problem sounds like carb needs cleaning. If this bike has moved from a different area it might need different jets in the carb. I might have jumped the gun the gas/oil mix ratio is very important check that first. your spark plug should be a golden brown when mixture and right jets are in. This might resolve the low end power if the oil mix is to rich or you might need piston rings. GOOD LUCK

I would like to know what kind of gear oil to put in my 06 yz 250

Calls for 10w/30. Any brand of mc specific oil will work. ie: Yamalube or Honda GN4 or the more expensive stuff will all work. On the cheaper side, you can use Type F (only) automatic transmision fluid. Just watch the color and change it when it starts getting dark.

Excessive smoke

sounds like fuel mix is to lean, try another oil, and only use freshly mixed, the gas tears down the oil after even a few days, or as 2 stroks are know for it may be time to rebuild the top end.

1992 yz 250 won't start

A couple of things.1.Check the fuel oil mixture is correct. It seems rich.2.Check that the carby is not running to rich. With new reed valves may need to be set back to the original manu. specs. With older parts it may have been retuned to make it run with the old parts.(carby jetting etc.)3 make sure the fuel oil mix is using a good quality oil.It does make a world of difference.I hope this is a start to get you going.

Engine oil in yz 250

On Two-strokes you mix the oil and the gas together. If it has an oil pump the bike will do this for you if you fill up the oil tank.

1 Answer

Piston rings

If the piston you are using has a pin in the ring grooves then the ends of the ring will be shaped to conform to the round shape of the pin. That will dictate how the rings go on.

If no pin exists, it doesn't matter which side us up.

Standard industry specs call for a 32/1 mix That equals 4 ounces per gallon of gas.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
