Question about 1988 Suzuki GSX-R 750 J

1 Answer

2004 Susuki GSX R1000 will not start. My husband is deployed and I've been starting the bike for him once every 2 or 3 weeks to keep the battery from going dead. He was home on leave 7 weeks ago and rode it. Everything was fine. Since he left, I've started it again twice. Today it will not start. I noticed right away that it didn't make the normal humming sound when I switched the key from off to the on position. However, the lights work and the dash display does come up. There is a red light on the dash and an oil symbol beneath it. Also, CHEC is displayed on it. What does this mean? Is the oil low?? Or, something else going on with it? Thanks!

It may have a low oil sensor that is keeping the bike from being started. try getting the bike level and check the oil and top it off if low.

Hi, Eric for this scenario you will need your service manual that has all fastener torque specs and a wiring diagram on the back pages, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Suzuki, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

2005 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 will not turn over

Hi, Aretoo, before testing any electrical component in the Starting Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Engine Run Switch is "FAULTY" or corroded.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
5. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
6. FOB battery low or dead.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Faulty starter button.
9. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
10. Security alarm needs a reset.
11. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
12. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
13. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
14. Faulty ignition relay.
15. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
16. Check for engine trouble codes.

4. Failed main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Failed system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.

Sounds like a short somewhere, possible headlight bulb? there is a main breaker on those bikes, usually close to the battery. Some are self resetting, some manual

My husband has a 1995 talon tsi awd and it won't start. He is deployed and has had me starting it atleast once a week. well I went out of town for 3 weeks and when I came back to start it, it won't do...

Yes...put a battery charger on it set at either 2 or 10 amps and charge it up. Starting and running it often you can create a voltage deficit as it takes a while to replace power lost by starting.
