Question about Motorcycles

I have 2001 Suzuki gsxr 600 and when you turn the key on and the kill switch is on the fuel pump turns on to prime but it stays on and won't shut off and floods the motor like fills the cylinders with fuel, what could this be? And this causes the motor not to turn over

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your bike back to it's normal operation.
If the problem still persists, I suggest that you go check the spark plugs for it may have big gaps, corroded or just faulty. If that's the case you may need to replace them for better fuel burning.

Fuel pump stays on and floods motor


Not too sure about this but there are a couple of things to try. Fairly sure the fuel pump runs from a relay somewhere in the tangled mass we call a wiring harness. You will also have a dedicated fuse for the pump, the fuse is obviously OK. I would look for the relay and or check the ECU. Do the plugs spark? Sorry can't be more helpful.

I have an 04 gsxr 600. She has no power except in the pe selection on the ignition switch and all I get is my brake light, turn signals and hazards. Battery shoots good, I have checked all possible fuses...


Hi, Jllay0603 nice novella and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a "LOAD" test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

I have a 97 gsxr 600, i bench tested the fuel pump to find out that it works but when i turn the ignition on the fuel pump does not prime, i also noticed that the fi light is on but it does not blink it...


lol just so you know this is the third fi i have responded to tonight on gsxr bikes a 600 and a busa and now yours if the pump isint prime then it may be the relay a link i will give you will help to try and find out the code to get the code you will need a paper clip and bend it over then take of your rear seat or rear cowel and o the left hand side you will see a white connector with 2 wires going into it that is for your ecm the brain of the bike and will show the cause of your red light check it out and if i can help anymore i will do best of luck bud http://www.gsxr.com/showthread.php?t=1234&highlight=codes and also this is very easy to do bud

same problem im having im gonna replace the fuel pump and see from there.

2003 gsxr will not start


does your bike have a kickstand switch...maybe hitting the speed bump caused the stand to move and killed the engine...also i think your bike has a tilt switch under the seat near the gas tank not real sure on the location but it just sounds to me like what would happen if you hit the kill switch...just throwing out some ideas let me know it it helped.

Yellow and red wires should be your power wires, the others should be ground. Check for both. You may need to turn it over a few times to get the pump to prime.

I cant find the fuel shut off switch on my 2008 gsxr 600 I dont have the owners manual either


THe fuel shut off valve is also called the "petcock" it should be located on the side of the gas tank on the very bottom. I think it is on the right hand side. Look for the fuel line that goes to the fuel system and you should be able to trace it to the shut off valve. It should have 3 positions, ON / OFF / RESERVE
