What I did , I turned mine in all the way and then backed them out until it started running smooth ! Try that and see if it fixes it !

SOURCE: what is intial setting on carbs air fuel screw

Turn the screws inward until the LIGHTLY seat. Now turn outward one and one half turns. If you seat the screws too tight you will mess up the jet.

You can fail emissions on a bike in arizona ? Wow i thought california was bad....anyhoo let's get to your concerns....All those srews should be very close to the same setting....rule of thumb is start at 1and1/2 turns out on each screw, almost any gasoline engine will run at these setting then you can fine tune from wonder you had bad idling problems...Good luck to you friend....Tim

I believe they are referring to the nozzle the needle goes into. A venturi effect is created by the position of the nozzle in the throat of the carb. The nozzle has holes in it and the fuel is sucked through the main jet and out the holes to mix with the rushing air as the needle raises. Beyond that I haven't got a clue.

Fixed carb still wont run right

If you are sure the carb is rebuilt correctly then you will need to adjust the high speed screw to get the fuel mix right. There is a small H on the side of the carb that denotes the high speed screw and usually takes a special tool to adjust it. The government made them tamper proof but you can purchase splined screw driver to adjust them with.

My polan saw will start but boggs when given gas if you pump the throttle it will run at full throttle buy once it idles down it stalls

This is fuel starvation, replace the fuel filter in the tank, check the fuel hose up to the carb for signs of leaks, or cracks, if the carb has no anti tamper screws, screw the L screw out 1/4 turn to richen the mixture, if the carb has anti tamper screws you will need to get the special tool to adjust them.

After warming up my 350 will not idle down, over rev's and seems weaker than it was power wise. I compared compression to my dads exact same saw and they are identical? His runs excellent and strong...

Sounds like it is running a little too lean, replace the fuel filter in the fuel tank first, check the fuel hose up to the carb for cracks or leaking, to make an adjustment to the carb screws will require pulling the anti tamper sleeves back on the screws, you will only have a small amount of adjustment before doing this, to pull them back you need to find a very small self tapping screw, this will screw into the end of the plastic sleeve, when it strikes the screw head underneath the cap will draw off, do not pull it right off, only far enough to insert a 2mm flat screw driver through the middle of the sleeve and turn the screw underneath, screw the L screw out 1/4 turn, and the H 1/8 turn out, then see if it has made any improvment, erratic/fast idle can also be due to and air leak, or the small impulse hose from the cylinder has cracked or come adrift, to check this will require removing the carb, the pipe is a small curled pipe conecting the carb fixing plate to the induction tube.

Air idle mixture screw on a Carburetor 2006 sportster

The idle mixture screw is on the bottom of the carb behind the float bowl. Unless it has been modified, this screw is covered by an "anti-tamper" plug and you cannot get to it to make an adjustment. If you wish to make it adjustable. You'l have to take the carb off the engine, turn it upside down and drill out the anti-tamper plug. Be very careful doing this or you'll destroy the screw underneath the plug.

I have a fairly new 359 e-tech chainsaw it starts but won't run I've changed the filter.

It sounds like a fuel starvation issue, remove the fuel hose from the tank and replace the filter on the end, check the fuel hose up to the carb, any sign of splits, cracks or fuel escape and the pipe needs replacing, it may be just a case of richening the mixture via the carb screws, unfortunatly the screws have anti tamper sleeves on them, they will have to be drawn back to adjust the carb, this may be a dealer adjustment.

Weed wacker starts and runs but only on idle or part throttle. Full throttle stalls. New gas and plug does not help at all. when tank gets empty it runs like a raped ape for about 20 seconds before the...

My guess is you are getting way too much fuel. (Runs with choke "on" too? Maybe a little smoke with the correct oil ratio?) If that is true then there are 2 possible solutions. First has anyone tampered with any of the set screws on the carb? If no DON'T touch em. It runs good at the end (20 seconds of raped ape) because at that point the fuel air mix balances out for a short period. But its in a aberrant mode, normally it would putter down and out. Flooding or "too much fuel" happens from 2 causes usually. one is you got a tiny spec of dirt, or gas varnish, or recrystallized whatever holding the needle valve open, letting too much fuel in. Try pulling off the fuel lines from the carb and spraying in some Gumout or carb cleaner, let it sit 5 min. Spray again, then blow out the passages in both directions with a compressed air source or a clean separate vinyl hose piece you can blow thru. Make sure the air filter isn't full of silt and dust. (Not enough air can cause this too, but its a bit different...not by much though) After you clear out the carb reconnect the lines and try it again. Let me know what happens. If the set screws were tampered with, I then have another set of steps to follow.

Where exactliy is located the air-fuel mixture screw in a carburetor for the 2002 honda shadow 750 ace deluxe?

The pilot air screws are sealed to prevent tampering. If access is necessary, the plugs can be removed. The Clymer manual, number 314-3, gives a detailed procedure, with pictures. Be careful! This requires skill with a drill in a small space, and it is possible to destroy a carburetor with poor technique.

2007 ttr 125 wont start unless hand is over the back of carb. also wont idle.At mid and high range it runs fine. There are no air leaks and no adjustment screw for the air/idle just a factory plug.

Time for carb cleaning, blow the jets with compressed air and check the fuel level in the float chamber, adjust if necessary.
Tht factory plug is where the air-mixture screw is and tht plug has been kept there for non tampering!
That screw is factory set.
Basically its the primary jet which is a problem in your bike's carb, but all in all might as well blow both of them.

Very good thought process on the adjustments. The throttle screw sets the idle speed and the air screw sets the fuel mix at idle speed. The stock setting is 1.5 turns outward. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward.

From this point you adjust the idle speed then adjust the air screw for fastest idle speed at that throttle screw setting. If the idle speed becomes faster than desired after adjustment, just reset the throttle screw and then reset the air screw.
