Sounds like u have a blockage between fuel tap & fuel pump or fuel pump to carby inlet. Check for fuel running from fuel tap if so check for fuel running from fuel pump. Process of eliminating problems.

Klx250 wont run it has spark new battery and cleaned carby but wont fire up will occasionaly start and run fine

Remove the filter or filter connection to the back side of the carb and spray it with starter fluid. If it starts when you do that each time, the carbs still have a problem and need to be cleaned out again or adjusted correctly.

Bike has a spark and cleaned out carb will not start, put fuel in plughole would not fire, it just stopped when going on road, charged battery, so it turns over well, checked valve in petrol tank vaccum...

if you have good blue spark and it fires when fuel is added externally , then the problem is fuel flow through the carby
have the carby professionally overhauled or get a new carby
make sure that the gasket to the manifold / head is in good condition

hi there

paul 46 here.

all being well and compression and spark and timming , muffler is clear , carby is clean , and diaphrams are all ok , fresh mix , and fuel filter and lines are good

does the unit run with 2 stroke mix in the plug hole - ?
if yes assume compression and spark are ok,, if no check compression and spark and muffler

will the unit run with 2 stroke mix sprayed into the carby throat ?

if it does sounds like you have a air leak somewhere in the intake system

could be at barrel base gasket, c/case joint, manifold boot/ block gasket, carby gasket , impulse hose ,if this unit has one , c/case main seals leaking

2 strokes need air tight c/cases in order to pump fuel / air / oil mixture from c/case to cylinder
and to create a vacuum for entry of fuel/ air / oil mix from carb to c/case

symptoms of air leak are -: hard to start, wont idle, stalling, low power, inconsistant idle, over rev
overheat

pressure and vacuum testing can be done by blocking off intake and exhaust with rubber and metal plates , then fitting adapter to spark plug hole , and placing piston at bdc , pressureise cylinder to 7 to 8 psi of pressure and check areas , base gasket, manifold joint, main seals, , impulse hose ? for leaks with soapy water - if leaking bubbles will be evident

if no leaks and pressure is held at 7 psi for at least 2 minutes with dropping - presure test is good
next do the same test using vaccuum again go to 20 - 30 inch / vaccuum

if vaccuum held unit is ok

suggest take a good look at carby particularly if P and V test are good and spark coil tests good with a coil load test using a spark gap of 6.00 mm to stress the coil ( simulates spark under compression load)

have a look and let me know what you find

cheers pauly46

Wont start spark seems ok fuel ? could it be

Tillers tend to have fuel problems because they sit for long periods of time. It is recommended to run small engines dry when not in use for more than 30 days. Ethanol is a big contributor to the problems. 90% of problems are in the fuel system. sometimes a cleaning most a rebuild will fix. You can obtain parts and chemicals from places like www.arcolawn.com (thipped to you) Let me know if I can help more. Joe

Try some spray starting fluid.
That will prove whether or not the spark if ok.
Make sure there is gas in the carb.
The tank may be clogged or the carb float valve could be stuck.

My 5.5 honda engine on my lawnmower will start but wont stay running already cleaned the carb out didnt help there is no restrictions in the fuel lines im lost please help

it sounds like a fuel problem.
first drian fuel out of tank.
i know you have already cleaned the carby but dis assemble carby and clean with carby cleaner.
re assemble carby & fill tank with fresh fuel.
also clean air filter & check oil level & check spark plug,if the spark plug is black and the tip is blocked with oil build up, then replace.

Fuel goes from tank to carby but doesn't start. (air and spark ok) Do I need to remove the carby? How do I best do that?

standard diagnoses procedure - make sure you have good compression, make sure you have spark, make sure you are getting fuel to carby, if you have compression & spark and fuel to carby bowl then you probably have blocked jets in carby

2000yamaha 400 big bear motor turns over ,but wont start gar410@peoplepc.com

check compression, check spark, check fuel in carby, if ok may have stale fuel blocking pilot and main jets or needle worn out. compression test shoul be better than 120 lb or will be too low to start

Honda vt 250 will not start

Hi Dino,
You have sparks and the carbys have fuel in it.......you crank it and it doesn't fire up.....have you tried to use the choke?
After a lot of cranking remove one of the spark plugs and see if its wet with fuel.
I feel probabely the fuel is not entering the combustion chamber.
