Question about BMW K 1200 LT Motorcycles

BMW 1200LT 2005 cd shuttle has no power

CD shuttle does not do cd check, no power to shuttle. where does the power go to at the front of the bike after going through the radio and out to the front console area, Thanks

Idle stabilisation valve or TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
You can reset the TPS - Turn the bike on, but dont start it.
Turn the throttle to full on - release, do this three times.
Turn the bike off.
Turn on and start.
The idle stabilisation valve can be cleaned, but a replacement is relatively cheap and easy to replace. They get gunged up and liberal so can't close fully - the ECU tries to open and close it to the required setting, hence the surging idle. Use carb cleaner around the butterfly and stepper motor areas and see if that sorts it.

K1200, remove engine sump guard, remove bottom sump (round) engine cover, insert oil cartridge filter removal tool and unscrew. Replace with oil lubricated new cartridge and reassemble.PS buy a manual.

You can reset the TPS - Turn the bike on, but dont start it.
Turn the throttle to full on - release, do this three times.
Turn the bike off.
Turn on and start.
The idle stabilisation valve can be cleaned, but a replacement is relatively cheap and easy to replace. Cd shuttle ejects when power to head unit is turned on


Hi Adam,

Since you've been trying things for so long, you may not mind another, unless you've tried it already.You'll need someone to help you.

Try using a volt meter on the main power to the changer. (If the changer is din mowered only, this can't be done) and when toy power up the head unit by ignition or other method, read the voltage on the main power wire (yellow?). Tell me what it shows. Also, the "turn on" wire for the unit is usully in with the data cable to the unit, and won't be able to check that.

Also try to read BOTH the acc AND the power wire on the head unit while turning on.

When you read the voltges, make sure that you use the ground ON THE CHASSIS of the componant that you are checking. "Maybe" you have a voltage variance like you said d to a weak ground at one of the units? I'm just troubleshooting as I would if you had brought it to me. Let me know again. Thanks.

** Note- Have you actually reset bothe the head unit and changer?
