Make sure the oil pressure pressure switch is plugged in, make sure the wire isn't damaged or touching ground anywhere, and make sure your oil is at the right level. If it all checks out, the switch may be bad. To verify, remove the oil pressure switch and connect a pressure gauge to that port. You should be able to find oil pressure values online for your engine.

might just be faulty oil pressure gauge or oil pressure gauge sender unit. I would start by having these both checked. hope this helps

Oil pressure light is on and bike wont run near top speed


Don't have a specific answer here ,had similar issues once and found that the oil pressure sensor was plugged ,not completely but enough to starve the reading causing the engine to think it is low on oil putting the engine in limp mode.

Hi Anonymous, if your oil pressure gauge is acting eratic or your oil pressure light stays on you could have a faulty sending unit, gauge or air in the system or a restricted oil filter, start by checking oil level in tank and make sure it is between the add and full mark. With engine at normal operating temperature 180-230 degrees and the use of a 10 micron synthetic media oil filter, oil pressure will be 30-38 psi at 2,000 RPM and 3-5 psi. at idle. The oil pressure light is designed to come on at 2 psi. or less. To accurately test oil pressure remove oil pressure sending unit and install known good oil pressure gauge that reads 0-50, there might possibly be some plumbing required for hard to access points. If you are out in the middle of nowhere and there is no cell phone service and your oil pressure gauge isn't working and your oil pressure light is burned out, despair not, you still have one last line of defense left HYDRAULIC LIFTERS, as long as those tireless workers are quiet, you have oil pressure, maybe not much, but enough to get you down the road at a slow to moderate speed using the least amount of RPMS as necessary. Oil pressure light beeps on and off before and after new oil pump


Have you replaced the sending unit for the oil light yet, do that now and that will likely fix the problem. The sender will be near the oil filter most likely.

Check to see if it has enough oil in it via the dipstick.
If not top it up.
If you mean by no oil pressure that the oil pressure light has come on, it could also be a problem with the oil light.

maybe it's ur gauge! you can get it pressure tested at ur local auto shop for pretty cheap i think! Sounds to me like its nothing major as long as you know you got oil pressure! ( check temps while driving) BUT i wouldn't worry to much about it as oil pressure tends to flux as car is driving/ getting warm and oil gets lighter. Worst case scenario is a leak in the timing cover gasket and whoever replaced it should cover it. Do you see an residual oil near it? or on the ground when its wet and you pull out of your parking space? Hope this helps!

3. Blockage in the oil tank or line.
4. Oil pump failure.

Low oil presure when hot in my k1500


if the engine has high mileage the lack of oil pressure could be worn main bearings.but if your lucky it could be a faulty oil pressure sending unit.fyi there are 2 sensors one is desingned to tell the ecm low pressure to shut off the fuel pump to prevent engine damage this would explain ur jerking
