Question about 1983 Honda CBX 550 F-F2

Buy 'Seafoam', put it in your fuel tank - about half the 16oz bottle, and keep turning over the bike. It will eventually clear out what is blocking your fuel and the bike will run. You will need to put the next half in the next tank of fuel. This stuff is amazing and can be found for sale on E-bay. No matter the cost, just get it. I tried everything else with my fuel issue and this is the only stuff that worked. All other fuel or carby cleaners just didn't cut it. It cleared it out within two tanks - half a bottle in the first tank, half a bottle in the second.

SOURCE: my engine wont start
check battery for full charge and tight cables.use test light check for power to starter when pushing start button.if there is, check starter. if none check for power to start solenoid on small wire going to it w/ testlight when you press start.if none, check start button, & wiring.if youi have power to it,but no start, take large screwdriver & make contact between both solenoid cable posts, make sure bike is in neutral. should crank, confirming that solenoid is bad.also, even if the solenoid has no power going to it to energize it you can still use the screwdriver trick to get bike to crank.

I had the same problem with my 636. It turned out to be just a cable problem. Try to see if all the electric cables work correctly and connected.

You need to have the carbs cleaned the fuel was probably not been drain from the carburetors and has aged,it turns to a varnish like substance and needs to be cleaned.

Testimonial: "Thanks - great help - will go and have it cleaned out."
sounds like a soleniod problem,
If you tap the solenoid while pressing the button it may start, but will confirm the solenoid is sticking

I guess define shorts out....It melts, it blows fuse. I guess the best way to start is to remove relay and find the wire from the relay socket that operates the starter and apply 12volts. with a fused jumper wire. if the fuse blows than there its either a bad starter or a short to ground on the wire going to the starter. if it turns over fine, then there is a problem from the starter switch to the relay or wiring at the relay box.
