Your problem is coming from the waterpump seal. When the seal goes bad it lets oil from the crankcase into the waterpump and vise versa. The only other problem it could be is the head gasket but you would feel a loss of power.

Just bought a 1998 ktm 300 exc what's the best gear oil for it? And how long should I ride before changing it?

0,8 l engine oil 20W-40 (Shell Advance VSX4)
Changing depends on how often you ride the bike, but the gearbox is watertight and only lubricates the gears. I would say 8 to 12 months.

amazingly there is a Owners Manual here

What makes the oil milky in a ktm 85sx 2004

I presume you mean the gearbox oil and that the oil is white? If so then coolant water is leaking into the gearbox possibly through the water pump.

Bought a '01 Honda CRF100F trail bike. No manual.

Use 10w40 in the gearbox. DO NOT use a synthetic lubricant or any oil with "Special" additives. They can mess up the clutch. Any national brand motor oil will do.

What are some common problems with the ktm 530 exc-r 2008

as with all bikes of this nature, check for runout in wheels, loose spokes, lighting working, suspension not leaking, brake discs for exsess wear, check coolant level , check engine oil for evedence of water, leaking water pump, radiator cap leaking past overflow pipe this could be pressure in system due to head gasket failure, fuel leaking, also check area around eng oil plug for evidence of repaire with cemical metal or similar, slightly noisy tappets is not uncommon,, normaly prety good bike, avoid bikes that smoke exsessive, check all gears are working correctly. dont jump out of gear ride in every gear and check for mechanical noise from gearbox, good gearbox normaly easy to select, doesnt jump out of gear, if u are looking at buying a bike of this nature they are fairly high maintenance, like to be cleaned , oiled and addjusted frequent oil changes, these are basic things i would check when buying a machine of this type, not nessasary a ktm, and these coments are not meant to harm your decision only help you chose the rite one.

Water getting in to engine oil i think head gasket in fine ive been told i may have a problem with the water pump is this true?

The water pump oil seals, yes. The seals keep the gearbox oil separated from the water. The only other way water can normally get into the gearbox is if you have a cracked center casing, a loose oil filler plug, bad head gasket, bad cylinder gasket, and condensation. The normal culprit is the water pump seals.

How much oils should i put in my ktm 250 sx 2 stroke 2003 model when i do a oil change?

2 stroke Mx bikes generally have(one or more of) four different methods of checking gearbox oil level.
The most common way to know is it is usually stamped on the clutch cover near the oil filler plug. It will read in CC's. 1cc equils 1ml. Sometimes they have an oil dipstick attatched to the filler plug. They have two lines on them. The bottom line is the lower level, the upper line is the full level.
The third style is an oil window situated at the bottom rear of the clutch cover, again with a high & low mark.
The fourth style is a bolt or screw on the clutch cover(with a alloy/copper/fibre washer behind it. For this type you remove the screw & fill thec gearbox untill oil starts to leak out of it with the bike upright.
Your bike will have one or more of these oil level checking systems.
If your totally unsure, ask your KTM dealer.
Hope this helps
