Question about Honda Motorcycles
I was changing the oil in my 4 wheeler and when I pulled the drain plug out I noticed it had metal shavings in between the threads. When put back in it would not tighten up. I did not refill it with oil and set it outside my shop. Like a dummy I left the key in and a family member started it up and drove it for about a minute. was this long enough to do any damage as the only oil in it was what was in the oil filter? If so how can I tell what and how much? Thank you.

Refill with oil and listen for knocks. If there are none, you may have been lucky.

You can buy a canister wrench at the local auto parts store. You do not need to torque the oil filter on, just hand tighten, No new gasket for the drain plugs just do make sure that it is tightened properly

Check HT leads, connection and the spark at the plug to see if it nice and bright.
Is the battery charged fully or is it old? They don't last very long on Harleys.
See if the regulator is any good ( dealer or friend swap if possible to check).

Wrong answer!!!!!!!If they broke they fix it.Thats just a number one shop rule even though no one wants to admit there mistakes they must always make customers happy and want to come back for service. If you are one-Hundred % it was there fault they must fix for free. Its just time to mention court even though that might not be what you want to do they usually get right on top of it and fix it.Sounds like its time to find another repair shop...GOOD LUCK and keep us up to date....

SOURCE: 91 kawaski 4 wheeler won't start
first are you getting spark?second are you getting fuel? to check the spark take out the plug and put it back into to cap(holder) do not touch the plug and turn over the engine.you will see a small spark.if not you starter coil is bad.to check the gas look under the carb there will be a overflow hose by the overflow hose is a flathead screw, open it if no gas comes out you will need to take out the carb and replace the float valve.
