2009 Honda 750 Shadow ran fine until the oild dipstick popped out of it's tube because it wasn't screwed in?? Now it just urns over but will not start.

If you ran it low on oil, there's a sensor in the oil pan that relies on oil to cool, and have been known to fritz.

Why would popping the oilstick out of it's tube shut down the engine on an '09 Honda Shadow?

If you lost enough oil you may have done internal engine damage, their is a sensor in the oil pan that can go bad, it relies on the oil for cooling it.

How do I check the oil on 2004 honda shadow.

Hi, Samuel many riders are over filling their oil system because they do not know how to properly read their oil site glass or dipstick. The following procedure works on nearly all 4 stroke engines but to be on the safe side you should refer to your owners manual. Use your center stand if you have one.
1. Bring the engine up to operating temperature or let idle for 5 minutes.
2. Turn off your engine and let it sit for 2 minutes, this will allow the oil from the top end to drain to the bottom.
3. Hold your bike straight up or on the center stand and wait 2 minutes for the oil in the bottom of the engine to be level in the sight glass or on the dipstick.
4. Your oil level should be between the top full mark and the bottom add mark.
5. Never over fill your oil system it will cause problems:
a. oil leaking out of exhaust pipes.
b. oil leaking out of breather pipe/hose.
c. oil carryover into the air cleaner.
6. Your oil site glass must "NEVER" be completely full or empty drain or add oil as necessary.
7. Your oil dipstick must "NEVER" be over the full mark and should never be below the add mark drain or add oil as needed.

Gas and oil in honda shadow air box

Hi, Anonymous you're getting ready to go riding you pull out the dipstick to check your oil level and are greeted with the unmistakable smell of gasoline. What happens next depends on the following:
1. You have experienced this before and do not start the engine but do change your oil and filter leaving it 1 quart low until the engine reaches operating temperature then top off as necessary.
2. The amount of time your bike has been sitting since the last time the engine was running.
3. The amount of gas and contaminants in the tank.
4. The oil pump location, exterior or interior.
5. The condition of your petcock gasket/seal/diaphragm.
If your gas tank was low and you start the engine probably nothing you would notice but if your gas tank was full and you start your engine the oil/gas mixture can blow into your air filter, come streaming out of your crankcase breather hose, and launch your oil tank cap followed by a blast of oil. The mess can be minor or you need to call a Hazmat team for assistance. This will also happen if you overfill your oil tank.
Next is the how and why gas can get into your oil tank/system:
a. The vacuum petcock rubber/diaphragm fails, which allows gas to flow from the fuel tank through the petcock, through the vacuum line into the intake manifold, then into the combustion chamber, where it seeps past the piston rings and into the bottom end.
3. Nonvacuum petcocks that are not turned to the off position will patiently wait until contaminants from the gas tank build up in between the carburetor needle and seat breaking the seal thus inviting gas to enter the combustion chamber eventually finding it's way into the bottom end and the oil tank.
4. Bottom line if you're not going to ride your bike for a while turn off the petcock.

hi,ouch!!,if you are lucky the piece may have fallen down low enough to not get munched again, drain the oil first and with any luck the piece will be attached to the sump plug(they are magnetic)if it is ,all is not bad,if not you may have to remove the engine case (the one with the dipstick in it)and hopefully it is lying in the bottom of the crankcase, one way or another though, you have to find it,and dont run the bike till you do,it may be a good idea to remove the case anyway to see what damage (if any)has been done..hope this helps..cheers

The red light on the dashboard does not extinguish. What does it mean? I mean after starting it keeps on burning while normally it goes out.

Sounds like you are low on oil...check your oil level at the dipstick...under no circumstances are you to start that engine until you check the oil level. I will bet you have an oil leak somewhere...trailer the bike to the Honda shop nearest you!

Your honda shadow 500 over heats, because the oil cant room around the engine of the bike.the problem is the worn out destroyed oil seal .Check and replace the oil seal of your bike.
