SOURCE: 2008 FLSTC REAR BRAKE CALIPER BROKE -CAUSING THE

To begin with, I hope nobody was hurt. Having the rear wheel lock up at the wrong time could be hazardous. I hope the damage was limited to the bike. The bike can be fixed.

If the bike had 76,000 miles on it when this happened, I wouldn't classify it as a "frequent problem". Matter of fact, I've never heard of it happening but there seems to be something strange here. I don't know of many 2008 model bikes that have that many miles on them. Matter of fact, I don't know of many bikes PERIOD that have that many miles on them. My 1965 Panhead doesn't have that many miles on it.

Now, you can look for factory recalls. I looked in several places and didn't find anything. If you are still dissatisfied, you can call the customer services at the motor factory and complain. Maybe they'll do something.

Good Luck
Steve

How to change weel stud rear on 2000 linccom navgater

You need to get experienced help because it involves the rear brakes. You should ask yourself why the stud broke in the first place. The most likely scenario is excessive tightening of the wheel nut. Only use the factory toolkit wrench if you have no option. Otherwise use a torque wrench and never an air gun, they max at 200 ft pounds and most nuts are in the 40-75 pounds region. Check the manual for the figure. The actual job is straight forward enough but needs experience or training.

How to change parking brakes on 2003 dodge ram

  • 1 Determine which type of emergency brakes your Dodge Ram will need. Emergency brakes typically function by activating the regular braking system on the driving wheels. The emergency brakes for the Dodge Ram have used rear disc brakes since 2001.
  • 2 Release the parking brake pedal completely and raise your vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel with a socket wrench and disconnect the brake caliper from the caliper adapter. Slide the rotor from the axle shaft.
  • 3 Install the new brake rotor onto the axle shaft and complete the installation by reversing the removal steps.
  • 4 Tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence with a torque wrench until the nuts are torqued to 47.5 foot/pounds Repeat the tightening sequence to torque the nuts to 95 foot/pounds.
  • 5 Apply and release the park brake pedal to seat and adjust the parking brake cables. Road test the vehicle to ensure the vehicle's brake system is functioning.
  • 6 Place tool C-3919 or the equivalent over the park brake shoes and use the star wheel adjuster to lower the park brake shoes until the lining just touches the jaws on the tool.

I have a rear end seal that need replacing the one behine the drive shaft in a 1997 chev 1500 pickup truck.

It isn't a bad job but to it you'll need an inch pound torque-o-meter and maybe a 2point puller and a seal removal and installer tool. Remove the driveshaft from the rear yoke, remove the lock-nut from the yoke, remove the yoke, remove the seal. install the new seal*must be installed evenly*. install the yoke and put the lock-nut back on !don't over tighten the lock-nut! With the brakes released (no resistence) and the tires removed. you are looking for no side to side play in bearing but also you are setting inch pounds as well. there should only be 5 inch pounds of resistence on the bearings.(this doesn't mean that you set the lock nut to inch pound, it will take maybe over 100 ft. lbs. to tighten the nut)
