It sounds as if your pilot circuit is clogged. The Pilot jet is the jet closest to the cylinder or the front most jet. Remove it and spray carb cleaner in to the hole you removed the jet from. It should come out from a little hole in the throat of the carb and directly under the front edge of the slide. After it comes out of both holes make sure to spray thru the jet itself until you get a steady stream and reinstall the jet and carb and hopefully your problems are solved. If not please post again.

What is causing my 97 mazda pickup to idle rough then die?

2 things could be happening. One, the maf, or map sensore is bad. If there is a check engine light on, have it checked out. Second, it could be the throtle position sensor. Or just crappy gas. Rule the gas out first before changeing sensores.

It idles in park, but when put in drive it dies. In gear driving let off of throtle it dies. Now it won't start.

With stopping the engine when put into drive , sounds like a torque converter problem , also when driving and letting off the throttle.
Is the engine difficult to turn over, Slow ? This also would indicate a T.C. fault.
It should go to a transmission shop for checking

SACHS XTC TWO STROKE DIES AS SOON AS THROTLE IS TOUCHED

A cold engine needs more fuel to run. The choke helps this by blocking the normal air flow.If you can get your hand over the carb intake try one finger at the time untill it will warm up. If it will just idle let it idle till it gets warm. The choke is so you can hope on and ride right away.

S10 has very high idle when cold and sticks to the gas when warm

you need to replace the throtle body controll sensor. Also you may want to make sure all your linkage from the pedal to the throtle body is cleaned and lubed correctly. While playing in this direct area. Your throtle body is only 4 bolts away. Why not get some carb cleaner and get to know your truck just a litle more.

If this is a carborator, then you need to turn my warmup idle down. there are 2 sets of idles on carborators. the one to warm up the engine, automatic choke or pin settings. Get a Chilton, find out which idles pin is for what. and play a litle bit.

I think you have a throtle body so I would also check the automatic air intake sensor. It could be going bad. Check your filter and make sure its clean.

hope all this helps.
