HELP PLEASE!!!! Need to figure out how to fix a Singer's Sewing Machine's drop in bobbin casing for my Singer 90s Special Edition???

Sounds like bird nesting or thread nesting (a user error), where there are thread "barfs" under the fabric. This is caused by the top thread not being seated in the tension disk. Remove the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the upper thread!!! Rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct. Set the upper tension at the midway point between high & low numbers--you'll probably need to tweak it for your particular machine.

Remember, when experiencing problems, install a brand new needle. Remove the thread from the machine, RAISE the presser foot, and rethread from the beginning.

It also helps to always pull the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric, gently hold both thread tails in your left hand, and then slowly take the first couple of stitches.

Bobbin might be too low on thread, needs more weight to hold it down.

I have a Singer Fashion Mate 257. It was sewing fine until I took out the bobbin case and put it back in. Now it won't pick up the bobbin thread.

Make sure the bobbin thread is fed out through the slot in the side of the bobbin case, that there is enough thread fed out of the case to make a loop that can reach above the feed dogs and back down to the bobbin case. Make sure the bobbin case is fully inserted into the bobbin case well and check the tension of the upper thread to see if it will feed properly. If the upper thread is too tense or snagged it will not be able to loop around the bobbin case to pick up the bobbin thread.

Installing the hook and bobbin assembly.

The plastic bobbin case should sit on top of the raceway, it should slot in quite easily, once the bobbin case is in put the small metal clip at the top over to hold it in place.

Broken plastic black peice sits down by bobbin (singer 81 on it)

This is an Apollo bobbin case and most sewing machine dealers will have them. Costs less than $20.
When you install it you will find a finger with a slot in it(located about 10'clock) that must be turned to the left to open it before the case will go back in.

Bobbin case and threading singer 6423

This machine has a black plastic bobbin case. You drop the bobbin down into the case with the thread coming off in a clockwise direction. If you look close you will see a slot in the bobbin case where there is the metal pieces. The thread will slide into that and as you pull on it it will work its way through and come out on the other end of the metal. Lay the thread over top of the bobbin case and turn the handwheel to pick up the thread. (make sure you close the slide plate)
