Hi Anonymous, This procedure is not for weekend do it yourself type. It requires special factory tools, knowledge of service bullitens that affected this particular year and model, plus the experience of doing a complete vehicle alignment, which requires the use of 2 eight foot aluminum "L" beams, this is not for the faint of heart. That being said you should take it to your local dealer and have them replace it, and while you are there order a service manual, it will save you a ton of money in the long run. Good luck

This is an involved project, and would take me two days to type in a step by step.

If you need to ask this question here on this forum, you'd be better off to let a bike shop do this, or at least buy a shop manual that will take you through step by step.

A few sticking points:
You'll need to remove the rear wheel, and also the rear suspension swingarm/softtail to install a new belt.
This will require a lift to get the rear wheel/tire off the ground.
Also, the entire primary drive needs to come apart, so you can remove the inner primary cover to access the transmission pulley.
This operation will require either an impact wrench, or a torch, to remove the engine sprocket nut, as it's torqued to about 160-180 Ft/Lbs, with RED LocTite!

The labor blue book lists this as an 6-10 hour job.

Belt broke in expedition ac compresser locked


If the compressor is locked and the belt is turning free on the pulley your good if the the clutch is bad to then you can't get by with just a bely just take your hand and see if the pulley turns free if it does your good to go with just the belt.

How to adjust the belt tentioner


The belt tensioner has a heavy duty spring in it were it does not need any sort of adjustments done to it. If the tensioner seems loose to you, replace it before you loose your bely while driving

Drive belt slipping installed new belt


It sounds like you bought an automotive belt to replace a wash belt and thats a bad idea. If this is a frigidaire then that IS your problem, if not then your belt has the wrong sized v groove for your machine which will force it to ride on its face only. This reduces the surface area required to make the belt function properly and will do nothing more than burn up your bely, overheat the pully and stink up your washroom. Remember, Washer belts r for washers, automotive belts are for cars. Some auto belts have steel braid in them which add too much tension to the pulleys and motor causing them to flex inward wearing out the bearings and grooving the pulleys.
