Stand the bike straight up. Remove the derby cover. Inside you'll see the clutch assembly. The outer clutch basket is made of shiny aluminum. Just inside that is a round flat-looking spring that is darker in color. The oil should be no higher than the lowest point of this spring. Your primary should hold between 36-42 ounces of oil. Do not overfill the primary as it will cause your clutch to drag and you will be unable to find neutral with the engine running. Posted on this site search you tag line

Right about 1 quart (give or take about and fluid ounce or two).

Two ways to judge:

1: hold bike upright, remove derby cover (over clutch pack).
Pour primary fluid through derby cover hole until level comes up to just the bottom of the clutch plates.

2: With bike on kick stand, pour fluid through derby cover opening until level is just below the derby cover opening.

Won t go into gear

Dont run your bike. Drain the primary/transmission fluid and remove the primary cover. If you dont imediatly see the problem put the shift lever on the shaft and put bike in gear by gently rocking back and forth. If you still dont see the problem it depends on the year your Sportster was made. If the noise is indeed comming from the left side (primary side) you will see what is hitting what and making that noise.

Where do i put brake fluid ?

The brake fluid is to be filled in the brake fluid reservoir. The brake fluid reservoir is fitted on the master cylinder with separate chambers for the primary and secondary circuits.
In cars with a manual gearbox, the brake fluid reservoir serves as the reservoir for brake fluid used in clutch system. A brake fluid level switch is mounted on the brake fluid reservoir. The Level switch contains a float magnet which affects a reed element that closes an electric circuit and warns the driver regarding the condition. The master brake cylinder, which is mounted on the brake servo unit, contains a secondary
and primary piston.

Manual transmission, care wont go into gear, clutch goes all the way to fllor

You may have to inspect the clutch master. It has two parts, the primary and the secondary. The primary is the assembly where you put in your clutch fluid and the other is where the line of the clutch fluid ends up. At the transmission. There should be a circular part at the outside of the transmission. Check if there is still fluid in the reservoir. If there is none, fill it up and let it bleed. Check also for leaks. If there are leaks you may have to replace the primary or the secondary depending on the location of the leak. If there is still fluid in the reservoir, you may have to remove the assemble for inspection of the rubber seals. If there are damages, replace the part.

Changing fluids

Trans plug is under the Primary cover ( Left side ) and the Oil line is under the frame on the left side. Look for a oil line with a plug attatched to it. Run the bike up to operating temp. Primary and trans are the same thing ( Sport Trans fluid ) 1Qt in the primary ( fill throught the little cover on the side of the primary, and fill the oil through the oil tank. Put a little oil in the filter too, before installing, this will give the motor a little bit of oil until the rest of it makes it way through. You'll also need 1 p/n 11105 for the drain plug on the primary.

I’m happy to assist further over the phone at
