Sound like you have some gum or dirt in a carburator. Also make sure the air filter is "clean." Have those carbs looked at and all passages cleaned up.

You have a single fuel injector in it right. Try right at the end of the gas pedal cable at the engine there is an electrical plug and a little device that goes around in a circle when the gas is mashed. That is the throttle position sensor. Try unplugging that and if there is no difference in the revving then the throttle position sensor is out. If that is not the problem, then plug your engine into a an onboard diagnostic reader. 85 is an obd1.

Start buttom does not energize starter

Start by disconnecting the starter solenoid small connector and bring 12 VDC directly to the small wire solenoid terminal. If the starter then operates you will know that there is no problem with the starter but with either the low or the medium current circuits. If the starter does not work when you do this you either have a bad starter or solenoid or a poor battery to starter cable or ground etc. If you then test for battery voltage at the wire end of the solenoid small wire end that you removed from the starter by using a voltmeter on it while you press the starter button with the ignition and run switches and you do not get a good 12 VDC reading you will know there is a problem with the low current starter circuit. If the low current circuit is good you should also hear the starter relay click when you press the starter button with the ignition and RUN switches ON. If there is no small click from the starter relay first check the starter fuse and if that is okay there should be 12 VDC to the 30 terminal on the starter relay with the ignition switch ON and the run stop switch in RUN . If there is not then you will have to find out why not. If there is power to the 30 terminal there should also be power to the 85 or 86 terminal (86 is usually the ground but it seems it is not always and sometimes it is the 85 that is the ground). When you press the starter switch if the low current circuit which is through 85 and 86 is good it should pull down the internal relay contact and allow power from the 30 terminal through to the 87 terminal which is the wire out to the starter solenoid small terminal. If the starter relay does not activate you will need to find out why not. If there is power to the 30 and either the 85 or 86 and the other ie the 86 or the 85 has good continuity to ground then the relay is bad and needs to be replaced. If there is no power to the 30 terminal and therefore also either the 85 or the 86 there is either a bad starter fuse or ignition switch or run stop switch or the starter button OR the wiring between them.

I have the 86 wing and I also have an 85 1200 wing there the same almost but the 86 has 40k more miles on her and it runs circles around my 85 they both run like a top no skips and same on gas just 86 has...

In a general sense, two bikes off the assembly line one after another can do the same thing. There were no substantial differences between the engines, other than more refined emission management.
40K can contribute a little, depending how hard those miles were or if it suffered overheating or some mechanical problem which took a little umph out of it. If you're real curious, do a compression test on the two and see if there's a difference. Are both bikes current on service? Plugs, timing, etc?

When using a 5 pin relay what wires connect to pins 30,85,86,87 and 87a to run a motor using a switch

85 and 86 are your coil wires. If you are using a standard single pole switch, you can run power to the switch, and back out of the switch to pin 85. Ground Pin 86.

Run main power for the lift motor to pin 30, make sure to fuse this accordingly, no more than a 30amp fuse if this is a standard 30amp SPDT relay.

Run pin 87 to the motor's power input. 87A is not required. This is wiring is just to power the motor in one direction.

Hardly start; skips badly at low rpm; smooths out some after 3000

I had a similar problem and traced it to the hole in the gas cap was rusted shut so that the engine was starved for gas. I drilled a small hole in the gas cap and it runs like new. Sorry-no new gas caps are available through the Honda dealer as the bike is so old.
