Hi, Anonymous you have a dead short which is usually the easiest to find. Using a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder, start probing the wire leaving the fuse holder about an inch away the test light should illuminate, keep probing towards the ignition switch until the test light no longer illuminates you are now very close to the short. SOURCE: i recharged the battery and

I would check the rectifier/regulator and if there is an ECU, disconnect it as if the battery has been connected the wrong way round, it will be faulty.

Hooked battery up the worng way

Hooking up the battery backwards causes a surge that blows the engine main fuse. The main fuse is usually found in the engine bay's fuse box.
If your lucky you blow many fuses. But alot of the times every electrical component will puff magic smoke and will need replacing. Especially the Computer, Radio and Body Control Module.

Why is the ignition fuse keeps blowing and blowing main fuse

It's called a direct short to ground. Whatever is on those fuses needs to be checked. Main fuse, is it blowing when you turn on key or when you hook battery? If with switch then trace hot wires from switch. Blown fuses are from overheating, which is what a short does.

My main fuse on 900 vulcan 2011 keeps blowing just when I try to put it in. Does anybody have any ideas? this bike has very ow miles and is kept in guarage.

Low battery will not blow a fuse. If it blows right away when you turn on the ignition you have a main electrical short. Disconnect the regulator to the battery connector at the regulator to see if you have a shorted regulator. After the main fuse blows you should not have a battery drain so figure out also why your battery is discharged. Is your batttery no good. This would not blow a fuse in any case. Was the battery out recently, or disconnected. Make sure it is installed correctly and none of the wires are connected incorrectly. THEN you will have to start tracing the wiring from the main fuse to find the short circut.

What happens when you hook a care battery up backwards?

Hello Glen, Bad bad things can happen when you hook up a car battery backwards. If your car has a high quality electrical system it might only blow out one or two main fuses. If not, it can cause havoc on the wiring system and burn out the alternator, computer, sensors, modules, and stereo system to name a few.

Main fuse keeps blowing

You stated your loadtested battery? Try another known good battery as I have seen very odd things happen with these maintainence free batterys sometimes such as polarity swapping. This would cause the same main fuse blowing as if you were hooking the battery up backwards. Then begin by un plugging the ignition switch. If fuse blowing stops the problem is in the harness somewhere between the fuse and ign. switch. Possible wire pinched or rubbed through and grounding. From the ignition switch the main fuse voltage goes to the distribution(common) side of the fuse box. Inspect the wiring from the switch to the fuse box. This problem has to be pre fuse box in location otherwise the lower amperage circuit fuse in the box would be blowing. Good luck!

IT KEEPS BLOWING CAR FUSES

Power inverters can do this if they are internally shorted or they are being over loaded. If you are just using it to charge a phone or a computer it should not be over loaded. Now if you are charging a computer and running a small cooler at the same time, that may be real close to max which may blow a fuse. Have you tried hooking it straight to the battery to see if it will run what ever you are running. It has it's own fuse so if it has an internal short it will blow that fuse. It if works hooked to the battery and is just blowing the cig lighter or acc. fuse it can be a weak socket. If the socket is hot it may have a loose wire on the back side causing low voltage which can blow a fuse. So hook it to the battery direct, if it works ok there, reconnect it to your acc port and if it is getting hot it may be the weak socket. If it will not run hooked to the battery, it has an internal short and it would be better to buy new than try and fix. Sorry.

The 3A fuse blows on the main board when the bottom door switch is pushed

There is definitely a short in the 24volt(low voltage) system. You have done the right things so far. I would begin by physically inspecting the wires for damage and performing continuity checks for each wire as well as each wire to the furnace. These checks should be done with a meter and disconnecting each wire at both ends.

Sometimes there is a very small bare spot touching the furnace or ductwork. You can diagnose this by checking continuity from the wire to the ductwork. If there is continuity then that is your problem.
