Question about 2005 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre

2 Answers

I have a 1999 Honda VT100C2

I put in cheap gas on sunday and as soon as I drove off from the gas station(Shell), my bike acted as if I had bad gas; sputtering and barely increasing power over 45 mph.

I drained my tank on monday morning. I put Chevron Techron premium gas into the tank(1/2 tank full). My bike ran a tadbit better but still sputters @ 45mph. What's cuasing this? Is it new sparkplugs need to be changed or what?

You drained the tank but did not drain the carbs. Plugs should not need to be changed. Contact your states weights and measures department. There is groundwater and trash getting into the fuel storage tanks. Gas may be leaching into th soil.

A "very helpful" rating here? < < And it doesn't cost anything extra!

Had this happen with a 81 Goldwing, wasn't the gas, well maybe part of the problem. It was small particals that clogged the jets. Had to remove no. three carb and clean the jets and walla, the bike ran perfect.

Over heating and dumping coolant out overflow?

Hi Gambler904, and the usual suspects are:
1. Insufficient oil supply, or oil not circulating.
2. Insufficient air flow over the engine.
3. Heavy carbon deposits.
4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP, and/or CMP sensors.
5. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.

My car is racing and idling badly when I stop. I thought is was due to bad gas - but that has run through? It started after I got gas from a Shell station

It sounds like it may be your Idle Air Control Valve. This is a common maintenance item on many Ford/Lincoln models. It controls the idle speed for the fuel injection system and when it goes bad it will act just like what you are describing.

Heya i just bought a 2003 honda cbr 954 was running fine past week then as it got warm next few days after start up. started stalling and bogging down in 1st 2nd and then running ruff ,,,guy at honda...

If it has an aftermarket Fuel Injection programmer (like a dynojet powercommander), it may have lost its programming. Some of the older systems used a serial connection to upload/save FI programming...some newer ones use USB. You would need to identify if you have one - what model it is - then determine what map it needs and upload accordingly.

Sometimes the FI on the bike needs a reset or determine the code being generated. Here is a forum that lists the procedure:

Good Luck.

REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER FIRST.CHECK FUEL PRESSURE.IT SHOULD BE 41 - 47 PSI. MAKE SURE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR VACUUM HOSE IN PLACE AND GETTING VACUUM. IF ALL IS GOOD FUEL PRESSURE IS LOW.FUEL PUMP MORE LIKELY THE PROBLEM.
