SOURCE: 1988 susuki throlte stuck open when started

Have you looked into the throttle body to see if the throttle plate is actually open, or does it have a vac leak or a problem with the idle air control valve ?

My 1988 katana is stuck on 2nd gear what do i do?

bent selector or damaged gear cog
either a very major diy job and total engine strip
if this is your choice you need to be very confident and patient in what you are doing and get a very good manual read the engine section first before starting so you know what you are in for
after you have read that section then make your choice what you want to do
or take it to a work shop that knows what they are doing

How do yo tell if clutch is bad, on 2000 750 susuki katana, feels like slipping at max speed on all gears.?

Find a long straight road that climbs fairly steeply get into top gear at about 40 MPH then try to slowly accelerate. If the clutch is slipping you will find that the revs increase but the speed does not. It is not a good idea to rev to the max in each gear it can damage the engine and gearbox. Have you checked the clutch cable and the adjusters also is the clutch release mechanism (push rod I think in your bike) working correctly. A poorly adjusted or damaged, un-lubed cable, with no free play at the lever will not help a clutch to operate properly. I would also have the clutch checked as it could be the friction plates are worn and/or the spring tension is incorrect. (Wrongly adjusted or weak springs will also not help the situation)

yes, the clutch plates are starting to wear out, thats one of the first signs. It'll just get worse at lower speeds. replace the plates theyre cheap for a 2000 katana

How do I putt fork oil in my 88 1100f susuki

Remove the front axle, the wheel and undo the clamps holding the forks, there are two sets usually held on my allen key bolts.

Slide the forks out of the tubes and empty the fork oil into a container. Refill (usually 8oz but check manual) with the correct grade of oil and slide the fork legs back into the tubes. Tighten the clamps and refit wheel and axle. Test the forks first by pushing down on them.

Hope this helps, please vote for me.

I have a 89' 600 katana gsxr. the trans is stuck in 6th gear. Do I need to split the case to repair?

Unforturntly yes! When you have it apart may as well freashen up the hole motor. If it need seals replace, if it need bearings replace, Messure the cyclinders and pistons and rebore and replace pistons, rings, gaskets ext ext. Being a 89 it would have alot of mile on it and if you rebuild the engine you will have a fresh engine and will have trouble free miles for a long time.

I'm a first time buyer and i'm intersted in buying what i was told is called a susuki katana 650. Ive ridden before but my knowledge as far as brands and models is concerned is slack. Basically the price...

There are some problems with the alternator which charges the battery. Not a huge problem, but added to the other issues I would pass. Rebuild of carbs will help with the acceleration, but it also sounds like it needs a transmission rebuild as well. It shouldn't pop out of gear it either has bad syncros or gears in the transmission. Cost to fix this will be more than the added price of a newer well running bike. Unless of course you can do it yourself.
