cylinders 135 are on rear off engine by fire wall, does your car have all coils or only front three, if this is the case, if no oil found into spark plug tube try replacing wires first, if oil in them replace valve cover gaskets and gromets, dont forget a fresh set of wires.

Bravada coil


The GM products such as the olds bravada has a problem with oil getting into spark plug area where the coil pack is bolted down, the coil pack and plug are emerced in oil and causing the coil pack to misfire..to check this have the codes read to determine what coil pack it is..and remove it by removing the bolt holding it in place..if there is oil it will be right there to the top in many cases. Take a paper towel or something to sponge the oil out and clean the spark plug connector, no need to remove the plug and replace the coilpak with a new one...this is a problem but not real serious..suggest removing the other good coils and clean the plug area and plug Then replace the good ones..or if you wish replace with new...oil is from valve/cam shaft cover gaskets bad or loose..you can try and tighten the securement bolts or have a garage mechanic take a look...good luck

No spark replaced coil no spark does the low oil have anything to do with no spark oil is up to full line


We use growler to test the coil off the engine. To make sure that other components are not the problem, remove any other wires connected to the coil. Always use a new spark plug for testing. Once you have solved the problem, remove the new plug and put it away for spare. If spark with other wires removed suspect faulty oil sending unit or short in wiring or faulty kill switch (test old coil also). Do not replace sending unit however, just check oil before every use. Have a honda 11 horse on a north star power washer that has no spark,yes the switch is on.


Cause of no spark can be determined by process of elimination. Good to have a new sparkplug on hand to eliminate plug as fault. So start by replacing plug with new or test plug on mower /edger etc. for spark. If plug ok, then temporarily remove the wire connected to oil alert system (oil alert will ground coil if oil low or dirty). With oil alert unpluged, and no spark suspect sparkplug boot or coil. The sparkplug boot threads on to the spartplug wire and is what actually fits-on to the spark plug. You can test the coil by removing the boot and inserting piece of paperclip wire, or small screw into end of the coil wire and hold close to engine ground while pulling rope. If still no spark suspect coil. If spark, replace the boot. Good luck with repair.

This has a coil pack and four spark plug wires, correct? If so and you have replaced the spark plug wires and you don't have any spark out number four but you have spark on number one than you have a bad coil. You can remove the number four wire from the coil start the engine. Use. Test light connected to ground and place it near the opening in the coil that the spark plug wire goes into. You should see a sharp strong snappy spark. You may find that you have to hold the test light really close to the metal part inside the oil tower to see any spark. If this is the case you have a bad coil. Be careful when checking for spark. There is between 30 - 40 thousand volts generated but the merge is extremely low. If you get zapped it's going to tickle. Bit but it won't kill you. Good luck and let me know what you find.

My light says ignition coil b. also the primary and secondary.......what is the primary/sec / AT FIRST IT SAYED #6 misfire. also it still has a slight miss at idle and crussin in overdrive . Can you please...


It sounds like you need a coil for # 6 cylinder .LS's have a issue with the valve cover seals leaking oil into the spark plug holes and causing a misfire if this is the case you have to replace all the gaskets for the valve covers clean out the oil and might as well do sparkplugs then too. Its more of a dealer repair then. If no oil in that cylinder try replacing coil and spark plug.

It states this for will not start:

Engine Cranks But Will Not Start
1. Empty fuel tank.
2. Fuel shut-off valve closed.
3. Poor fuel, dirt or water in the fuel system.
4. Clogged fuel line.
5. Spark plug lead(s) disconnected.
6. Key switch or kill switch in “off” position.
7. Faulty spark plugs.
8. Faulty ignition module(s).
9. SMART-SPARK™ malfunction (applicable models).
10. Carburetor solenoid malfunction.
***11. Diode in wiring harness failed in open circuit
mode.***
12. Vacuum fuel pump malfunction, or oil in vacuum
hose.
13. Vacuum hose to fuel pump leaking/cracked.
14. Battery connected backwards.
****15. Safety interlock system engaged.****

This points to a problem with either Item 11 or item 15 above.

Start troubleshooting by performing test 1 and 2 on page 132. (this SHOULD isolate the problem)

Ignition module checkout is on page 134.

See page 141 of the service manual for the wiring harness diode. To check it you would read the RED wire off if the switch to the black wire on the flywheel stator. It should only READ in one Direction (reversing the meter leads)

Also disconnect the GREEN wire off of the oil sentry and see if you get spark. If the engine is low on oil or the sensor is bad it will ground the spark. (page 118)

“32 Pin” (MSE 1.1) Plastic-Cased ECU: Circuits
30, 31, 65, 66, relay and relay circuit 30.
5. ECU grounds
6. ECU

No spark


Here are a few pointers from a former pressure pump tech. Usually no spark is caused by the low oil safety system or spark plug wire shorted. This system will prevent the engine from starting if the oil is dirty or contaminated with gas. Try disconnecting the oil sensor and the kill wire from the coil. If no joy re-install the old coil and test without oil sensor connected. The spark coil can be tested with a growler used to test armatures. Sometimes a shorting sparkplug wire can be found by pulling the starter rope in a dark room and look for sparks jumping to metal. enjoy

93 mazda mx6 (v6) no spark.


Coil resistance is not a good way to determine if the coil is good or bad. It might still need replacing. Check to see if your getting a pulse signal to the coil. You can do this by hooking a milivolt test light to the trigger wire and ground. If it doesn't flash as you crank the motor, check out your pickup coil in the distributor. Some of them you can change. Some you have to replace the entire distributor. Sometimes oil will leak into the distributors on certain models which use an optical pickup. If this is the case, change the seal to fix the oil leak and GENTLY clean the optical sensor and photo wheel.
