This is probably the emulsion tubes, they get worn quite quickly and by about 30k miles need replacing. They cause rich running at low throttle openings and that is what bogs you down. If you find very progressive throttle opening reduces the problem but taking a handful at low revs bogs you down then this'll be the cause. I assume the rest of the system carbs, valve clearances etc are clean and spot on.

The most common problem is fuel delivery due to a dirty carb. If the valves are out of adjustment it will lose power also. But a plugged jet is more likely. Try running some Seafoam through the gas. Pour in a half a can for one full tank, then use the other half on the next tank. This will clean the jets of any gunk and also carbon in the combustion chambers.
