Firing order & Wire Routing for 2009 Dodge Nitro 3.7 w/ three coil setup


The firing order for v6 is 165432
The driver side cylinder bank is numbered from front to rear-- 2-4-6
The passenger side cylinder bank is numbered from front to rear 1-3-5
The picture is for your coil pack, hopefully. So you can see how the coil towers are numbered.
My database for 09 showed coil on plug ignition. Is this the original engine?
I did see info for 07--3.7L that did appear to show a coil pack in tune-up manual.

How much should it cost to have a rear master cylinder rebuilt for a 2008 H.D. Streetglide?


if you do it your self about $50. in a shop ? mark up on parts$ 90. plus 120.labor $210 and thats on the Conservative side (at least in Denver,co) and they might include removing the tire ect .plus fluid and fluid depose ....

Rear cylinder does not fire 1987 FLHTC


If you're getting fire, but the cylinder isn't getting hot (I always check the exhaust pipe near where it exits the head), possibly you're not getting air/fuel mixture to that cylinder.

Is the intake valve opening?
Check valve adjustment?

1200 sportster not running on back cylinder


Verify the cylinder is not firing by measuring the temperature on the exhaust right out of the cylinder. If it is not firing the tempature will be much cooler than the front cylinder. Once you have determined the rear cylinder is not firing then you need to perform a compression test on the rear cylinder. If it is not with in specifications, you may have broken rings, burned valves or hole in piston. Until you run compression test you will not know which way to go.

I have a 99 road king flhr that sat for about a year outside. I changed plugs an oil an was running rich an wouldn't idle at low rpm. Clean out the carb an jets an now rear cylinder isn't firing...


Perform a compression test on both cylinders. If there is a significant difference between the two you may have a stuck ring or stuck valve from sitting.

Yes i have a 96 chevy lumina i changed the plugs and i think i may have switch the wires but dont know where they go directly


From standing in front of car and facing engine:

3.1L and 3.4L OHV V-6: The cylinder location is from left to right (rear cylinders) 1,3,5
(front cylinders)2,4,6

The coil terminals from left to right: 5,2,3,6,4,1
Firing order 1,2,3,4,5,6

3.4L DOHC V-6: The cylinder location is from left to right (rear) 1,3,5 (front) 2,4,6
The coil terminals are from front to rear 5,2,3,6,4,1
The firing order 1,2,3,4,5,6

3.8L V-6 cylinders left to right (rear)2,4,6 (front) 1,3,5

Which fires first front or rear cylender on a 1982 FXR 1340


Neither. The front cylinder fires on one rotation of the crank and the rear cylinder fires on the second rotation or vice versa. Since both cylinders fire on different revolutions instead of the same rotation, neither fires first. But, the ignition system, provided it's stock, fires both spark plugs at the same time. It's called a dual spark system because it fires both plugs at the same time. Since one cylinder is on the exhaust stroke and is of no concequence, it's called a 'wasted spark". You can switch the spark plug wires on a stock Harley Big Twin, not the V-Rod, and it will run.

Not firing on rear cylinder


New Harley Davidson motorcycles are designed to stop firing on the rear cylinder , at idle , to cool the rear cylinder off. Does it run normally above idle? Contact a dealer to see if your model is set up this way.

I have a 1990 fxr with a single fire ignition, cam and s&s carb. I am not getting the rear cylinder to fire. I just cahnged the coil but no change. I have compression out the exhaust pipe for the rear...


With a single fire ignition, you cannot swap the wires. A dual fire ignition, yes, but not a single fire. You need two things to get the cylinders to fire, spark and compression. Take the plugs out of both cylinders. Run a compression test on the rear cylinder. You need at least 100 PSI to get the cylinder to fire like it should.

Next, put your plugs in the wires, (they should already be in the wiresand grounded) and spin the engine over. Watch for the plugs to spark,especially the rear plug. If you have spark and compression it should run on the rear cylinder. If it still doesn't run, either something is way wrong with the ignition or a very bad air leak on the intake.

If you don't have spark at the rear plug, you need to check the coil. A single fire coil is different from a dual fire coil. The primary wiring is different as well. If you've got the primary wired incorrectly, you won't get spark at the rear plug. Go to the website of the manufacturer of your ignition system. Most of them have downloadable installation instructions. Check your primary wiring.
