Hi Anonymous, your front brake lite switch button is probably not getting pushed back into the off position. Remove your right handelbar switch housing and push the plastic button in and out with your finger to see if the light goes off and on. If not disconnect the wires to your rear brake lite switch and check the front switch button again. If the button works then reinstall the switch housing and push it towards the master cylinder hard and hold it with one hand and retighten the screws with the other. If you hook up rear brake lite switch wires and the brake lite comes on replace the switch. For a wiring diagram for your turn signals go to: http://officialharleyparts.com/wiring_diagrams.php Good luck

Not sure of the year of your bike, but if you have an aftermarket alarm system, it is related to the alarm system itself or a bad relay in the circuit.

SOURCE: why is my brake light & tail light on my 02 fatboy staying on?

As far as the tail light, Federal law states the headlight and tail light be on when the ignition is on.

Usually when the brake light stays on, it's because of the front brake light switch, inside the switch housing on the right hand handlebar.

Sometimes, the little nub on the switch that the front brake lever works against breaks off, causing the light to stay on.
Also, the switch can get gummed up, and the plunger doesn't spring back out when released.
Try accessing the switch and spraying around the plunger with some electrical contact cleaner spray (auto parts store) while working the plunger in and out to see if you can free it up.

SOURCE: How to change the front brake switch on my 2002 Fatboy...

You'll have to cut the old wires, and solder the new wires.
Cut the wires from both the old and new switches to different lengths, so the when you splice them together, the enlarged area at the splice will be staggered from each other, so the "bulge" created will be smaller inside the wiring harness cover.

1994 Ford Escort, will not go into gear(automatic), turn signals wont work, warning lights don't light up when cranking.

Start with checking the brake light switch.
follow the brake pedal up the metal arm until you see a little switch pressed against the metal arm.
When the brakes are pressed, the switch button extends and unlocks the shift lever and turns on the brake lights.
It is common for a little plastic piece to deteriorate and break away, causing the brake lights to stay on and can damage the shift lock solenoid.
Attached is a photo of the brake switch where it contacts the pedal arm.

There is a little snap cover beside the shifter. You can pry it open with a little flathead screwdriver and insert a thin object inside to release the shift lock and get out of gear until you find the fix.

1994 dodge dakota brake light ground location

The ground wiring on newer vehicles is a little complicated. Older cars, the ground would have been to the body around the tail-lights, but these have a ground wire in the harness and is connected to the turn-signal switch, and other sources. I don't think you have a ground problem. Does the fuse blow as soon as you press it into the fuse-block, or when you step on the brake? I believe you have a dead short somewhere, possibly a pinched turn-signal wire close to the tail-light assembly. Brake lights work through the turn-signal wires from the turn-signal switch on the steering column. That's how you can have one side blinking for turn while the other side stays on for brake. I'm kind of shooting in the dark here because I don't know what all you've done. If you replaced the turn-signal switch in the steering column, you may have pinched a wire or something there. Another thing, if the fuse doesn't blow as soon as you press it in, will both turn-signals work as long as you don't press on the brake? If you can provide a little more information, I might be able to help you more. One last thing....Have you replaced tail-light/turn-signal bulbs? If so, be sure you used the right bulb. You should only have two bulbs, one for back-up lights and one 1157-type combination for tail-lights and turn-signals. I have seen people use a single contact (1056) bulb in place of a 1157, which creates a short from brake/turn-signal back into the tail-light circuit. I do have a 1994 Dodge Dakota.

The headlight switch would have nothing to do with brake lights and turn signals. The turn signal switch would.

When break pressed turn signal turns stays on and doesnt flash

My first guess would be a ground problem. The bulbs are mounted in plastic sockets and grounded to the car by a black wire. If one socket is not grounded it will try to ground thru a different socket.
I would check for voltage and ground on each socket in the back.

Why mybreak lights wont turn off when car stops 1994 honda accord

Your brake light switch is most likely bad. Under the dash there is a switch that when you push the brake pedal, a pin extends to complete the circuit. There should be a bracket with a rubber tab on it attached to the pedal lever itself. If the rubber tab is missing, it will also allow your brake lights to stay on.

My 1994 honda accord break lights wont turn off when car has stop

brake in a car is verry important for your saffety and others. that why they install many devices or systems to control them and make shure they work propely 1; brake light switch on the pedal floor(to indicate to the folowing car that you are stoping) 2;brake sensor fluid level (on the brake master cylinder under the hood)
to monitor the level of the fluid in the reservoir 3; brake pressure sensor (on the brake dispencer under hood) will warn you in case of brake pressure faillure .note, it may be more sensors, depending on the make of the vehicle but this is the tree comon causes for brake ligth to stay "on"
