What is a manufactures body code?

Many trouble codes are "manufacturer specific" - the actual code description only applies to that manufacturer. There are 3 or 4 varieties of codes- the best known are P codes meaning "powertrain" codes (related to the engine and drive train). Some are B codes, or body codes, and when you have a Body Control Module, or BCM, a small computer that controls interior electrical circuits and systems (like lights, door locks, etc.), the codes will be stored in the BCM, although the communication between the BCM and the vehicle's main computer-the PCM (powertrain control module) will let the codes be transmitted between them. That is why the main computer can display all codes on the vehicle, whether P codes, B codes, C codes (related to ABS system), or U codes (related to communication links between the modules.

Where is the body control module located on a 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora.

You would need to see if any DTC'S -diagnostic trouble code's are stored in the BCM , That's the first thing that should be done . An a special type scan tool is needed , not a code reader for engine code's. If no code's ,checking power an ground circuits to the BCM need's to be done. Input an output test's have to be done as well . You need wiring diagrams , pin out diagram of BCM connectors . Need to know what all the BCM controls etc... Suggest you watch this videos . How i can replace BCM on Gmc sonoma 2000

Replacing the BCM is easy , There are some steps that need to be followed but still easy ! After the new BCM is installed that's when the average person gets into trouble , because they don't have the knowledge ! They replace the BCM an it won't start an other thing's won't work . Replacing a BCM is best left to the dealer or some other qualified repair shop . It needs to be programmed an then Passlock Learn procedure has to be done. You may be replacing it when it doesn't need replacing . What problem is your vehicle having ? Have you had it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ? An not OBD2 codes , BCM codes won't turn on the check engine (MIL) light .
The body control module (BCM) must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options and if the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes the BCM will not control the features properly. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
?€¢
The battery is fully charged.

?€¢
The ignition switch is in the RUN position.

?€¢
The data link connector (DLC) is accessible.

Follow the instructions on the Techline Terminal and scan tool to program the BCM. If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
?€¢
Inspect all BCM connections.

?€¢
Verify that the Techline Terminal and scan tool have the latest software version.

I lost dash lights, power windows, fan,ac,turn signals, etc what is causing this

It depends on the make , model an year vehicle . Most all vehicles have a BCM - body control module that controls these functions . You best bet is to take it an have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . An I don't mean an auto parts store because there code reader will not pull BCM codes . A dealer or a ASE certified repair shop .

My 2001chevy blazer security light came on while driving went back off after few minutes now car stalls and then want start up until hours later codes show o2sensor misfires tps and security alarm ???

What type scan tool are you using ? or are you using a code reader ? The SECRUITY -anti-theft system codes are stored in the BCM not the PCM !You need a factory scan tool or a professional grade one to check Body Control Module DTC'S -diagnostic trouble codes !
The theft deterrent system has been incorporated into the body control module (BCM). The theft deterrent is provided in order to prevent the vehicle operation if the correct key is not used in order to start the vehicle. The ignition key turns the lock cylinder. The cylinder rotation produces an analog voltage code in the Passlock?"¢ sensor. This voltage code is received by the BCM. The BCM compares the voltage code to the previously learned voltage code. If the codes match, a class 2 message is sent from the BCM to the powertrain control module (PCM)/vehicle control module (VCM). The message enables the fuel injectors.

How do I fix no power to interior?

What kind of vehicle do you have ? Sounds like you have BCM - body control module problem ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_control_module

The first thing to do would be check the BCM for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! You would have to take to the dealer or to someone with a up scale scan tool ! A code reader for the OBD2 system won't work for this ! If no DTC'S , check power an grounds for the BCM . If everything is good there change the BCM , there again you would need to take it to the dealer . The BCM needs to be programed an the dealer is the only one who can do it.

Whats code 1351?

hi, this is an obd2 trouble code table, it can help you understand the code.

Basically the engine is either at rest or cranking when the VCM (PCM) is monitoring for the high voltage diagnstic.
The PCM has an internal 5 volt reference that's used for several circuits. This voltage is dropped across a resistor and fed to the corresponding control circuit. The BCM monitors this voltage to determine circuit integrity.
You could have a wiring problem between the PCM (ICU) and BCM, or a problem with the connector(s) at either the PCM or BCM, or the BCM is going bad.
For this problem a wiring diagram is your friend. You can check the connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal-to-wire connection, or rubbed through wire(s).
Check the PCM to BCM wiring very close.
A good way to find a wiring problem is to clear the code. Monitor the reference voltage while having someone pull on wiring at the BCM/PCM and wiggling the harnesses. If this makes the voltage to go high you know it's a wiring problem. If the voltage remains constant and the code RESETS than the VCM is the problem.

What do these codes mean E31-E41-E74-F31? can you help?

E31 = Shorted MAP cicuit sensor
E41 = Cam sensor circuit problem
E74 = Intermittent MAT

F31 = Display panels to BCM problem

This is to say if the vehicle is a 1991 Cadillac Deville
Then the Trouble Codes are as I listed above.
For future reference, the F is for BCM codes.

When entering the on screen diagnostics the display starts with one E for the PCM history, then E.E. for current. Same sequence follows for BCM codes starting with one F for history and F.F. for current ones
