SOURCE: Engine filling up with gas

there is no way for fuel to get passed the rings right? So if you filled the head with fuel, it would just work its way down the exhaust pipe and out the back, just like its doing. The only way of getting fuel into the sump is; if you have seriously bad rings (it would be burning oil) OR if its getting through the breather system. I don't even think if the injectors were on full-time, it still wouldn't get into the sump... very strange. Are you sure its not coolant? A serious coolant leak can be completely unnoticeable from the outside, but catastrophic to the inside. __________________

I would think about investing in a carb re-build kit.

SOURCE: klx 110 2006 stalls when choke is pushed in

i'd say the carb is gummed up especially the pilot jet (#16158) in this pic of the USA carb. may have to remove the carb & bowl and then remove the pilot jet (w/ flat head screw driver) and clean out the tiny holes.

-OR-

the carb slide is installed backwards (turned 180 degrees). its #16025 in the pic. i've done this before on my daughter's XR70 and Z50. you'll know if its this when you move the choke lever, RPMs increase and decrease.

hope this worked for you and was fast enough.

SOURCE: Engine filling up with gas

Hi, a friend of mine had the same problem with his old gs750. In his case it turned out to be a damaged diaphram rubber in the petrol valve. In addition to this he also had a bad needle and seat in one of the carb bowls. With both these faults the petrol flow could not be shut off, so gravity took over and filled the crankcase. hope this helps, Bikemanbig.

I Was riding and the bike just cut off. I bought new switch and checked fuses but is still won't crank. Ideas?

could be a clutch, brake or kickstand switch went bad. I would start at the kickstand switch since it quit while riding. helps if you specify the bike and year.

95 Chevy Caprice won't start unless I disconnect the fuel line.

Fuel pump can also cause this problem, You find out if fuel pump is faulty by energising directly fuel pump, and checking fuel pressure.

Check also the fuel line, starting from gas tank, often oxide and dirt from tank can obstruct the hose. Disconnect fuel hose and blow air into it .

Check also air filter and air intake.

My 2006 katana starts up runs for a while then shuts off

Has the bike been sitting for a while? If it has, then the carburetor(s) probably needs serviced. It might also be a clogged fuel strainer (usually located in the tank) If the service history of this bike is unknown, then check for a really dirty air filter(s). Try to keep the bike running by giving it some throttle. If it stays running, then the carburetor(s) will probably need to be cleaned and rebuilt. If it still shuts down, then verify fuel flow. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor(s) and observe fuel flow when the fuel valve is turned on. Fuel should flow out in a steady stream. If it doesn't, then clean the strainer. If it does, then drain the fuel out of the tank reconnect the line(s) and refill the tank with fresh fuel. If the bike has been sitting for a while, you could have a fuel volatility problem. I hope that this information helps you solve your problem. Thanks for trying FixYa.

My issue with my bike is constant fuel overflow, even after the bike is shut off fuel keeps running out. A little back history. The bike has sat for 26 years in a shed. I took the carbs apart and cleaned...

Your petcock needs to be rebuilt (if parts available), or replaced, if it does not shut off the fuel. It also may not be saving reserve fuel , if gas is bypassing the ON position. You may also need a new fuel filter .Maybe add an additional in line filter. If you have replaced the float needles and the carbs are still overflowing you probably have a problem with rust in the tank. Have the inside of the tank cleaned or use a rust removal kit on the tank and see if this does not solve the problem. Try to avoid fuel tank liners if possible , they can cause more problems than they solve.

Honda cbr 125. my friend changed the air filter and now it over heated and stopped and wont start any idea's??

Hi, i replaced my air filter on my cbr but it wouldn't start for me then i realised that 1 of my fuel lines were not connected properly when i put the fuel tank back on.

After that it was fine, check and make sure that your fuel lines are connected correctly under the fuel tank because they are a tight fit and therefore they can slip off easily if not connected right, you should see that there are 2 thin pipes that connect under the tank and then see if they are connected to the rest of the engine ok, but i'm not sure why it would be overheating on you!

Fuel problem

the bike will start but not run for long especially if I roll the throttle a bit. When turning the key and flipping the kill switch to on I can hear the fuel pump. I removed the fuel pump assembly and checked for holes or cracks in the lines and none are present. Does anyone know if the fuel/air separator can go bad? I have tried putting an extra quick disconnect to an extra fuel line to see if I can get any fuel out put and I get nothing. Do fuel pumps get clogged? Any words of wisdom would be great before I run out and buy an new fuel pump.Try running the bike with the gascap open and see to rule out that the air supply is clogged.,,,
