Question about kawasaki VN 1500 Vulcan Classic Motorcycles
Just bought the bike not too long ago and the odometer doesn't work, took apart everything and found out the cluster input for the cable is rusted and seized, any advice?
I would replace it with an eBay guaranteed working unit with similar mileage reading, and replace the speedo cable for good measure.
All the best!

you mean all lights work but speed needle don't move, its a cable problem, maybe broken or come loose from speedo. remove 3 hex screws from chrome trim on gas tank and see if it has come unscrewed, if not undo it and spin front wheel and see if the end of cable turns, it should unless its broken.

Easily checked. Get a friend to drive at an indicated speed in a car or another bike. Good reference point. If the speedo is driven by a cable remove at both ends and inspect for frayed wires on the inner cable. Just slide it out of the outer housing.

Those gauge heads tend to oxidize easily and can be cleaned with a good contact cleaner and a little elbow grease. Pipe cleaners and emery cloth make this easier to do.
