It needs to have a liner put in it. There are several kits on the market that can do it but "Kreem" brand is the one that I use most. Make sure that you buy the complete kit which consists of 3 bottles (a tank metal etcher, water remover, and a liner chemical). Preparing the tank and doing the work is a very lengthy process(5 hrs or more). Read and follow the instructions very carefully and that kit does work if done correctly.

Replace gas tank straps

Not sure by your wording if the tanks are rusty or the straps are. I would try (carefully) a cutting wheel to cut the straps but not cut into the tank itself. I checked and see RockAuto has them for the lowest price, about $70 depending on how many gallons, 16 or 20.

Hi! I have a compressor that leaks air on the bottom of the tank. I neglected to drain it during it's life time, so it got rusty at one spot and, when I pump air, it leaks. Is it repairable? Could any...

Due to the explosive ability of compressed air, I would not recommend any repairs to a compressor tank. It is possible to weld a patch on the rusty spot but the heat would weaken the rest of the tank and you could face a very dangerous explosion if the tank should fail at another spot. As an authorized service center, if I have to replace an air tank I have to drill holes in the old tank to render it useless and safe. Save yourself a huge nightmare and buy a new compressor.

1987 Cadilac Sedan Deville- where is the fuel pump and how difficult is it to replace

It is located inside the gas tank. The tank must be emptied and dropped out to replace it which is not very easy to do if the gas lines, retaining brackets and bolts are very rusty

Bouncing fuel gauge

make sure your ground from the sending unit in the tank is good. it is usally rusty a few years from being on the road. you will need to remove it. put a new end on it and reattach it if it is rusty. if it is not rusty you need a new sending unit in the gas tank.

I have a 1989 k1500 350 5.7L. how to remove the fuel filter from the gas tank. It's rusty around the fuel filter and gas tank. I just don't want to miss anything up.

The best think i have found to use on rusty parts is called PB Blaster, It comes in an areosal can that can be purchased at any local parts store such as Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts, Spray some on the rusty parts and let it soak for a little while and it should break free no problem.

I hope this helps, Good Luck, Allen

'03 gsxr 600, rusty fuel tank n rough revving

carbs need a good cleaning. had this same problem with an 82 GS1100. cleaned the tank as best i could, you can never get all the rust tho. finally had an idea to place a couple of old car speaker magnets on the outside bottom of the tank to catch any residual rust. been 4 years now with no more problem.
