Question about 2002 Honda VTR 1000 F Firestorm
Hi my wifes vtr has been sitting for about 1 month and today I went to start it and the engine would not turnover, too cut the story shorter I pulled off the starter motor and about 4 litres of fuel came gushing out so obviously the engine was hydraulic locking. would the problem be with faulty needle and seats and do the vtr's have an electrical fuel shut off ?. If you could shed some more light on the situation it would be nice, I am a diesel mechanic by trade and have limited experience with bikes.
The needles in your carbs did not cut off the gas so it slowly run and filled your engine. If you have your carbs cleaned and adjusted this will be no problem. The problem I believe is that the gas inside your engine may burned rubber adhesives such as oil seals. This could be a problem so it would be better if you get a worshop's opinion too.
