4 d cell eveready, be careful, your bike will keep going and going and going..............sorry, couldn't resist. There are several applications. First, one needs to know what kind of bike it is. A few more details would help, but furnish them to the guy at the parts store. He can look it up in the applications book..

Where can i find the battery for the exercise bike

Would really need to know what kind of exercise bike you have. A lot of them are located inside the plastic covers of the bike. Could possibly need special tools to access this depending on the model

My bike was not used for many years, recently when i took it out it wont start

Describe your yamaha type/kind/model and year and how long is it in storage (not used).
What kind of storage processing did you do before storing it?
Have you use a fresh battery after storage, is it fully charged?

Have a 99 model....been setting awhile and I just put a new battery on and was looking at the oil window and looks like I need to add some....lost my manual...what kind of oil should I use.

Remember to stand the bike upright before checking the oil level, if oil is needed you should speak to the shop who did your last service. Ask them the grade of oil they use as a standard, purchase some new oil and top up as nessesary. If you did the service yourself and you can't remember the type and grade of oil you used, it would be best to change it and enter the details into the service book. Remember to always check the oil level standing upright as the oil level on the side stand will be totally different.

You are in the wrong area of FixYa, but I can make some suggestions.
It depends upon what type of bike riding you want to do.
If you want to ride bikes over rough terrain and cross country then you need a mountain bike.
If you want to ride bikes on roads only then a road bike is what you need.
A mountain bike can be used on road surfaces but a road bike is not suitable on rough terrain.
If you want to bike race, then you need a racing bike, these are very light and expensive.
It is best if you go to a large bike shop and speak to the sales person or go to a bike club and ask questions. This will help you to decide what type of bike will suit you and your needs.

Battery missing for exercise bike

I have a Schwinn airdyne (model AD-3) that uses a button type battery in the count-down timer, which is above the work load indicator or the 'speedometer'. According to the manual I was given with the bike, it utilizes a 1 1/2 volt watch - type battery (LR44, A 76 or equivalent).

Hope this helps.

The tension adjustment does not get difficult enough

If you are refering to a regular bicycle this means the derailer is not making the chain jump from gear to gear. You probably need a new shifter cable or the shifter cable came unhooked from the derailer. I would take your bike to a bike shop to have this reconnected and then they will adjust it for you.

If you are refering to an exercise bike then here may be your solution. From what I have seen on exercise bikes there are three different kind of bikes. I am refering to how there resistance works.

First type has a strap that wraps around the wheel. There is a some kind of a nut and a bolt that holds that strap around the wheel. You simply need to tighten that nut. The strap will stretch over time and that is why you do not have the same resisteace you had when the bike was new. Afer you tighten this you will find that regular tensioner works better.

The Second type of exercise bike has what appears to be brake pads contacting the wheel. Basically your peddaling the bike with the brakes on. Pretty simple concept. Again there should be some sort of adjustment around this pad that is touching the wheel. Probably a screw or a bolt. Some even have adjusters that you can turn with your fingers.

The new and improved exercise bikes have what is called magnetic resistance. This is where your resitance is created by a magnet and some sort of power source such as batteries or your bike being plugged into a wall outlet. If you are using batteries replace them. I found that with my elyptical exerciser new batteries made a world of difference in the resistance settings. If changing the batteries doesn't help then there may be another problem. This could be the computer. Just check your user manual and I am sure you can get it replaced.
