Question about 1997 Honda CB 500 S
Basically all the basic checks like battery are ok. The engine will not turn over and will not bump start. I guessed it was hydraulically locked as the air filter system was full of petrol and overflowing and so were the carbs. Ive taken everything apart and removed pressure from cylinders and let petrol evaporate overnight. I have cleaned and examined carb diaphrams and they were ok. Tried starting it again with plugs and air filter back in put just wont turn over? Anyone got any idea's? They are greatly apprieciated. Cheers.
I guess in order to help you i would need to know a little more.. did anything happen the last time you had it running, check power to the starter?, to make sure that the motor is not seized up you could push the bike a bit then put it in gear and see if the motor turns over at all... if the motor isn't seized the i would say you have an electrical problem between your starter , starter button and kill switch

not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or
injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
start to end troubleshooting these problems I suggest you

you need to check battery supply most important. if the battery low voltage, cause no start. if the battery ok & strong energy. maybe the drive away protection control if this is the problem you need to bring to BMW dealer to replace control & ENCODE the control unit using SSS.
