Road King Custom 05 tightening down the handbars

I have a 05 road King Custom and the handlebars have come lose. There is a cover over the top and need to know how to get the cover off so that I can get to the screws to tighten it back down. Seems there is one covered nut that holds down the chrome cover but cannot figure how to pop out the cap.
Thanks in advance forr any direction.

Use a pocket knife to lift the nut and screw caps. They just press in with thumb pressure.

I also have an 05 Road King Custom. You have to remove the cover where the key fits to lock the forks, then remove the headlight and remove the screws from inside the housing to gain access to the handlebar bolts.

How do you adjust the handle bars?

On the older FL models, there was chrome cover that covers the handlebar risers. It was held on by two bolts, one on each side of the cover right in the middle of the handlebars. Remove the cover and you can get to the riser. Loosen the top bolts of the riser and adjust the bars. Unless they've changed something, this should work.

Good Luck

You could have the dealership install the 103 CI kit if you like but no it didnt come from the factory with that engine in it already, only the CVO bikes such as the FLHRSE and FLHRSEI came with the 103 CI motor installed from the factory.

The filters should be the same.
Make sure you have a new o-ring for the oil plug.
Make sure you properly ID the oil plug, there are two under there, one is oil, other is trans.
Don't overfill oil.
Don't over-tighten oil plug on re-installation, the aluminum threads are notorious for pulling out. Oil ring does the seal, snugly tight, don't put all you have into it.

Needing diagram of how to tighten handlebars on motorcycle

You have to remove the headlight, then the Nacelle ( passing lamps if you have them ) Under the lock ( which is removed with a small flat head screwdriver ( it's held in by 3 little push in tabs ) There are 2 phillips head screws( remove them ) then once you have the headlight out, there is a 5/16 nut holding the top chrome spine in place. Remove the nut lift the spline. then remove the nacelle one side at a time. Once you remove the nacelle the 1/4 allen bolts are right there to tighten. Make sure you tighten them evenly. Reverse steps to re-install back to normal.
