Question about 1996 kawasaki EN 500 Vulcan Classic

Hello,\r\n I have a 2000 en500 Vulcan. There

Hello, I have a 2000 en500 Vulcan. There is a hose connected to a tee that goes to both carbs. Now I know that these are not the fuel inlet hoses. They ( the fuel hoses) are lower on the carbs. Any way, I am led to believe that this other hose connected to a tee is a fuel bowl vent hose. Does this hose get connected to some port, or the air box, or does it just get tucked away somewhere. The hose is question is about 12 inches long after the tee. Help, Thanks,
Merkle

    Hello Again,

Your reply ( that hose is a drain going to the floater) . What is a floater? Does this drain overflow gas out of the carbs? . Does this hose just dangle down somewhere, or does it go through a guide clip. I am experiencing a mid range stumble. Feells like the slides are not moving up. Well, one problem at a time. Thanks,

    M

    Hello All,
First problem. Hose coming out of each carb going to a tee. Higher up on carb than the fuel supply hoses. Where does the end of this hose go or connect to. I can not believe that this hose just goes up vertically and gets tucked into the frame. ( No plug or anything on it's end). Also, a midrange stumble like the slides are not going up. But I checked their movement and even blew low pressure air in the rear vent and the slides do go up and down. Any ideas?? Thanks again all.

    Hello,

Thanks for your effort, but the schematic you sent to me is in no way even close to the Vulcan en 500.

Normally if it goes down then it's to do with overflow from the carb..But if you say it is going up then it maybe some water circulation tube for the carb..It is quite difficult to tell. This is not a 2 stroke engine so it can't be oil pipes...Is the bike air cooled or water cooled?

That hose is a drain going to the floater. That's it.

Have a great day!

The floater is the fuel reservoir on a carburettor into which fuel flow is controlled.

Where does the hose. top-front of carb connect to ?

It probably broke off from a Tee fitting. Three hoses connect at one junction point. After it breaks off, you will only see two hoses that look like a single hose, but with a plastic connector holding them together. Also at that junction point, you will have a hole in the plastic connector, where the hose that came off the carb belongs. This broken Tee fitting creates a vacuum leak. Purchase a new Tee fitting, disconnect the old part, then install the new one.

Fuel leak on a 1992 Kawasaki En500

The hose does not need to be connected anywhere. It could be a battery, crankcase or carb vent hose. It is fine as is. The problem is a stuck carb float or a carb float out of adjustment. Unfamiliar with BMW, I assume you have carbs and not fuel injection. Remove and clean the offending carb.
