Possable fuel/running problem

I've a 1999 RRX fireblade which i have had from new, since the start of this year i have experanced running problems.
The bike will start as normal then after a few mins of running die, like it is out of fuel, some time if i'm riding it bogg's down before it die's.

I have looked at the air filter which is new and then put the bike back together and it runs fine for a few weeks.

I don't have an inline fuel filter on it.

Any idears ???

Thanks i'll try this, not very technical i take it the screw is on the carbs ?

  • boyd_hol Jul 23, 2009

I have found the problem !! its the fuel tap there is a rubber Diaphragm inside the tap which is opened via suction from the carbs, this has started to perish causing it to close and starve the bike of fuel. A new kit can be purchased for about £35 and fitted in minutes.

How easy is it to rebuild a shock on a honda

My honest opinion is that you leave it to the experts. You need some heavy duty spring compression stands and spring retainers. Sure you can source them but how often will you be rebuilding rear shocks. If you need work done on yours I would suggest going out and buying a reputable after market shock, e.g Ohlins etc.

You may have debris floating around in the fuel tank or it could be a restricted fuel filter, being the easiest start with the filter.
Replace the fuel filter.
