2002 Chevrolet Venture Logo

2002 venture if I dvive a short distance say around 5 miles or less to home depot, whn I go to leave the van wont start. I either have to wait 45 minutes to 1 hour before it will start, or sometimes I floor the gas peddle for a few seconds than wait for about five minutes than stomp on the gas peddle very fast as fast as I can and it might start. I had my mech. look at it but all he could figure was that maybe the key was worn out and we replaced the gas cap also. It seem that if I drive for about 10 minutes or longer I won't have any problems starting it the rest of the day. Got any cules as to what the problem is? My mech. says there is something about a security thing shuting off the system that maybe I need to replace the ignition switch, what do you think about that? Please help if you can! thanks desperate in Michigan Bill R.

Hey Bill try this if you think it's your security system causing the problem. Or maybe you already have but anyways lock all the doors then use the door key not the key fob if you have one. But anyways put your key in the drivers side door lock and manually unlock the door. Most modern vehicles this will reset and disarm the security system. But I would really have the fuel system check

When you replaced the ECM, did you use a nice coating of di-electric grease? That helps distribute the heat from the ecm so it doesn't over heat. Also check your ignition wiring going from the battery to the ignition switch. Check for any loose or broken connections. A local shop can help you find wire shorts BUT BE ADVISED, Most shops charge a $70 an hour fee to diagnose electric problems. Thats not to fix, only find problems. I highly recommend a self search first.

My fuel pump seems to be pumping gas but my van wont start 02 chevy venture cranks gets fire an gas but wont start

Just because it pumps gas doesn't mean it is at the exact pressure it should be? Most fuel pumps have a psi of 40 to 45 psi, your fuel pump could be pumping at 25 psi or less which is not enough to start your car even though you can see some fuel pumping out. A simple tool to check fuel pressure can be bought at any auto parts store, check the specs on the fuel pump for your 02 Chevy first to see at what pressure it works, then use the fuel pressure gauge to check it. Anything less than what the specs on your fuel pump are suppose to be and you have a bad fuel pump?

Let's say your fuel pump works at 43psi, you hook up the fuel pressure gauge and you find that it reads 25 to 30 psi, that means it's not enough fuel pressure to start your engine.

I have a 1990bmw 325i. i turned the car off one day. ran in the store. ten minutes later came out and the car wouldnt start. left the car. came back thirty minutes later the car started. drove the car 25...

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
