If you have a fuel pump, that could be the problem. If the pump is not working, only 1 cylinder will get some fuel. Maybe water came into electrical part of the pump and shot the fuse, just check the pump operation.

Yes, its the needle and seat (in the bottom of the carbs) that controls the flow of gas into the carburetor, when they get ANY dirt (of any kind) between the needle and the seat..this does not allow the flow to shut off completely. This fills the float bowl until it over flows out the needle jet/pilot jet and it runs into the cylinders and back into the air box/air filter.
Your fuel system needs cleaning (NOT WITH ANY ADDITIVE) - actual disassembly and cleaning..INCLUDING the carburetors and add a fuel filter to the fuel line between the tank and the carbs..

Egr Locate Valve

No, Not an EGR valve. I would go with an electrical problem. As the speedo jumps, do other needle jump or move also? If so I would start at the dash. Some cars wont run or even start without the dash working. Could be as simple as a bad connection at the plug. Some times you have to go a little further by squeezing the female connectors down a bit. Then I would pull all the fuses and check to see if they are good . Pulling them takes care of any corrosion/contact issues. Next would be to check power and ground points.

Having a problem with the speedometer on 2001 SV650

You need to replace the speedometer cable. The years of turning inside the protective cable have worn it out. Disconnect both ends and the piece(s) supporting the cable and replace it. Simple and relatively quick too. Happy Riding.

1999 Expedition - when in idle the speedometer and RPM needles occasionally go wild... any advise_

when was the car last serviced? if recently serviced what service did the garage do? servicing the car at 20,000 km involves changing spark plugs/ clean or change air filter, fuel filter/ engine oil filter in some case it alson involves cleaning the throttle body and cleaning injectors.depends on your climate and driving condition, your car might be having a faulty airflow meter or faulty idle speed control sensor, have those two checked or cleaned then if problem still the same have your car checked by a code reader to pinpoint the problem.

Possible eclec prob

You are experiancing voltage issues, check the voltage at the battery with the bike running, you should be charging about 13 to 14 volts at a few 1000 rpms if not you have a issue with the chargeing system. could be the stator or regulater.

Check engine light acting up

The first thing I would check is the voltage output from the charging system. If the regulator isn’t regulating, the voltage will keep climbing as the engine speed increases. The electronics in the speedometer don’t work well at these high voltages. This would also explain the bright marker lamps. You should be able to see this with a simple voltmeter across the battery terminals.
